Job summary

Fivetran is seeking a high‑caliber Site Reliability Engineer to own the reliability of the data platform. You will work with product managers, engineering, and support to fortify deployment pipelines, handle incidents, and drive reliability initiatives.

You’ll leverage Kubernetes across clouds (EKS/AKS/GKE), IaC like Terraform/Pulumi, and automation with Buildkite/ArgoCD, while scripting in Python and shell. Strong Linux and networking skills are required for operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of experience building and operating SaaS-scale systems.
• Proficient with Kubernetes clusters (EKS/AKS/GKE).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible).
• Strong scripting in Python/Shell; Go bonus.
• In-depth knowledge of Linux internals and administration.
• Experience with cloud networking (VPNs, PrivateLinks, Private Service Connect).
• Proven incident response and production outage management experience.
• Ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and support teams.

About the Role

Fivetran is looking for a high‑performance, experienced engineer to be a part of a team of Site Reliability Engineers. You will work closely with engineering teams, product managers, as well as support and sales engineers to build the future of the Fivetran Data Platform Reliability.

As a member of the Site Reliability Engineering team, you will take ownership of the overall performance and reliability of Fivetran’s infrastructure, the robustness of the deployment pipeline, as well as timely and effective incident response and resolution. You will be responsible for the growth and stability of the infrastructure and be a key player driving effective incident response and overall issue avoidance.

Technologies You’ll Use

• Working knowledge of managed Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, GKE)
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and related tooling: AWS, Azure, GCP, Terraform, Ansible, Buildkite, Pulumi, and ArgoCD
• Experience in Python/Shell scripting; bonus if you have Java, Go, or other languages
• Experience with Linux operating systems internals and administration
• Experience with cloud networking such as VPNs, PrivateLinks, and Private Service Connect (GCP)
• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL

What You’ll Do

• Ensure ongoing reliability and robustness of production infrastructure by monitoring availability, capacity, and throughput.
• Evolve systems by adding reliability into the product roadmap.
• Coordinate re‑prioritization or fixing of critical bugs for support or sales requirements as needed.
• Recommend improvements to production infrastructure, working with engineering to ensure 100% availability.
• Ensure scalable artifact deployment to all environments through automation scripts.
• Constantly monitor infrastructure vulnerabilities and remediate them by working with the security team.

Skills We’re Looking For

• 9+ years of experience working with SaaS products at scale.
• Working knowledge of managed Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, GKE).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and related tooling: AWS, Azure, GCP, Terraform, Ansible, Buildkite, Pulumi, and ArgoCD.
• Experience in Python/Shell scripting and Go; bonus if you have Java.
