Role Description

The Staff Registered Nurse is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Chennai Area. The nurse will provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions for oncology and general patients. Daily responsibilities include administering medications and treatments, monitoring vital signs and patient responses, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, and coordinating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to support individualized care plans. The role also involves educating patients and families on treatment, procedures, and home care, ensuring adherence to hospital protocols, infection control practices, and safety standards. The nurse will participate in shift handovers, support emergency situations, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives and compassionate, ethical care delivery.

Qualifications

• Valid registration as a Registered Nurse with the appropriate nursing council; completed Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (GNM/B.Sc Nursing or equivalent).
• Clinical skills in patient assessment, medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, and monitoring vital signs, preferably with experience in oncology or critical care settings.
• Knowledge of nursing protocols, infection control practices, patient safety standards, and documentation requirements in a hospital environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams, with the ability to explain procedures and provide emotional support.
• Ability to work in rotational shifts, manage multiple patients, remain calm during emergencies, and demonstrate sound clinical judgment and ethical decision-making.
• Basic computer literacy for electronic medical records and hospital information systems; willingness to learn new clinical technologies and workflows.
• Commitment to serving underprivileged communities, cultural sensitivity, and alignment with the hospital’s mission of affordable, ethical cancer care.
• Prior experience in a cancer care or tertiary care hospital is an advantage; relevant certifications in oncology nursing, critical care, or emergency care are beneficial.
