Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Staff Program Manager for Engineering Operations in Bengaluru. You will lead the engineering operations function, drive process improvements, and partner with design, product, analytics, and engineering teams to accelerate delivery of data infrastructure and related initiatives.

The role requires strong program management, global coordination, and a deep understanding of how engineering processes work under the hood.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operations and strategy execution; streamline engineering processes to be simple, value-oriented, and scalable.
• Oversee operations for your respective global group; increase efficiency, stability, and effectiveness in delivering strategic objectives.
• Act as a strategic partner for the global group leader regarding vision, planning, and execution; establish and track OKRs and KPIs.
• Maintain the engineering process library and improve it with process owners and leadership teams.
• Lead process and efficiency improvement programs to set up or improve engineering and cross-departmental processes.
• Collaborate with operations managers to manage engineering initiatives and resolve critical issues as a team.
• Work with Engineering teams to ensure adherence to processes; conduct audits and discuss improvements with senior leadership.
• Provide leadership and support for internal knowledge management; collaborate with PMO and technical writers.
• Coordinate and deliver company-wide engineering updates and events; model operational excellence.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Staff Program Manager for our Engineering Operations team to help us reach our goals and make our Engineering team the best it can be!

The mission for the Staff Program Manager, Engineering Operations, is to maintain and accelerate the highest level of execution excellence of the company engineering. Our Engineering organization comprises several global functional groups that use a range of processes, systems, tools, and KPIs to jointly deliver best-in-class data pipelines and drive innovation.

The role focuses on increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of one or more of our Engineering functions in delivering our strategic objectives by streamlining engineering processes and leading major initiatives, such as process and efficiency improvement projects & programs.

As the majority of the processes are in the software development industry, the role assumes you have broad experience in software development and have led multiple programs that shipped software from start to finish. You have worked closely with cross-functional teams with design, research, product, and engineering. Preferably, you work at a tech company and are heavily involved in engineering operations, with a deep understanding of how engineering processes work under the hood and how to take them to the next level.

What You’ll Do

• Ensure operations and strategy execution work seamlessly and effectively, and streamline engineering processes so they are simple, value-oriented, and scalable.

• Oversee operations for your respective global group, with a particular focus on increasing efficiency, stability, and effectiveness in delivering their strategic objectives.

• Act as a strategic partner for the global group leader regarding short and long-term vision, planning (quarterly and annual), and execution, as well as establishing and tracking engineering OKRs and KPIs. All this with consistent alignment with engineering-wide policies and practices.

• Maintain the engineering process library and improve it in collaboration with process owners, other operations managers, the PMO, engineering leadership, and leadership of partnering departments such as Product, Analytics, and Design.

• Lead and manage process and efficiency improvement programs aiming to set up or improve engineering and cross-departmental processes, from problem definition and data analysis through solution proposal, stakeholder alignment, and execution — resulting in documented, repeatable, and measurable processes.

• Collaborate and openly debate with the team of operations managers to manage engineering initiatives, solve problems, discuss challenges, and learn more about critical issues as a group of Engineering Operations.

• Work with Engineering teams to ensure adherence to operational processes, conduct process audits and check-ins, and discuss opportunities for improvement with senior engineers and engineering leadership, identifying opportunities to optimize and automate routine operations.

• Provide leadership, improvement, and support of our internal knowledge management process and information structure in collaboration with PMO, technical enablement teams, and technical writers.

• Support the coordination, preparation, and delivery of company-wide engineering updates and events.

• Act as a role model and a champion for operational excellence, project management practices, risk management, and security practices.
