We are seeking a Technical Manager to lead Bluetooth validation and test automation for Qualcomm connectivity solutions. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership and ownership of test strategy, execution, and release quality across Bluetooth Classic (BR/EDR), Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and HDT.

You will work closely with development and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality Bluetooth features for handsets, wearables, industrial IoT, and voice and music products. You will guide engineers, drive complex issue resolution, and strengthen automation and quality processes across the validation lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end Bluetooth validation, including test planning, functional and protocol testing, regression execution, and release-readiness assessment.
  • Translate product and feature requirements into test strategies, coverage plans, priorities, and execution milestones.
  • Manage validation priorities, resource allocation, and dependencies; communicate progress, quality risks, and mitigation plans to stakeholders.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership in debugging Bluetooth issues using protocol traces, network analyzers, and system logs; collaborate with development teams on root-cause analysis and resolution.
  • Drive test automation and framework enhancements to improve coverage, repeatability, and execution efficiency.
  • Lead validation of throughput, CPU utilization, battery-current consumption, and Bluetooth certification requirements.
  • Mentor engineers, review test plans and technical findings, and build team capability in Bluetooth protocols, debugging, and automation.
  • Maintain disciplined QA processes, clear documentation, and effective cross-functional communication to support customer deliverables.
Required Skills and Experience
  • 8-12 years of relevant experience in Bluetooth testing and validation, with experience leading technical execution and guiding engineers.
  • Strong knowledge of Bluetooth BR/EDR, BLE, and HDT, including protocol and feature testing, system-level debugging, and optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with Bluetooth protocol analyzers such as Frontline and Ellisys, supported by strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Bluetooth profiles including AVRCP, PBAP, A2DP, HFP, OPP, PAN, and A2DP Sink.
  • Familiarity with Bluetooth 5.0 features and Bluetooth certification testing.
  • Experience evaluating Bluetooth throughput, CPU utilization, and battery-current consumption.
  • Strong test automation and framework-development experience using one or more of Python, C++, Perl, Tcl, or shell scripting.
  • Good understanding of networking concepts and TCP/IP protocols.
  • Ability to own project requirements independently, prioritize competing needs, and coordinate delivery across teams.
  • Strong communication, documentation, organizational, and mentoring skills.
Preferred Experience
  • Hands-on BT testing experience.
  • Experience supporting Bluetooth validation for handsets, wearables, industrial IoT, or voice and music products.
  • Experience improving validation processes and scaling automation across features or product programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Test Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Systems Test Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR
  • PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Test Engineering or related work experience.
