Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. is seeking a Firmware Engineer to develop high-performance controller firmware for volatile and non-volatile memory systems.

You will build and test firmware for memory controllers and SSDs, triage issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve power, latency, and SOC complexity. The role requires 6–12 years in embedded firmware for storage, strong C and assembly skills, and experience with PCIe/NVMe interfaces, ARM tools, and Eclipse IDE.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent required.
• 6-12 years in Embedded Firmware/Storage (SSD) experience is a strong plus.
• Strong firmware design and debugging with assembly and C.
• Knowledge of PCIe/NVMe interfaces.
• Understanding of storage interfaces such as SATA/SAS.
• Experience with ARM development tools and IDE (e.g. Eclipse).
• Experience in storage industry (SSD/HDD) preferred.
• Familiarity with test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-performance controller firmware for memory and storage systems.
• Evaluate, create, build, bench test, debug, and perform failure analyses of firmware for SSDs.
• Triage failures, file bug reports, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Assist in optimization to reduce power and latency and manage SOC complexity.
• Mentor junior engineers and work within a multi-functional team under priority pressure.

As a Firmware Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will build groundbreaking high-performance controller firmware for volatile and non-volatile memory systems. You will assist in the evaluation, creation, build, bench testing, debugging, and failure analyzes of firmware for new high-performance memory controllers and Solid State Drives (SSD) that will improve performance, while reducing power, latency and SoC (System on Chip) complexity for the target sectors. You can expect to partner multi-disciplinary Engineers seek multi-functional product development issues. You will triage failures, file bug reports, use AI Supported and help the development teams with isolating issues.

Job Responsibilities

• 6-12 Years in Embedded Firmware Storage/SSD would be a strong plus.
• Strong firmware design and debug experience using assembly and C programming.
• Knowledge of mass storage interface protocol PCIe/NVMe,
• Understanding of storage interfaces including SATA, or SAS (optional)
• Strong skill in ARM development tools and IDE such as Eclipse
• Knowledge in the use of scripting languages, programming tools and environments
• Experience in the storage industry in SSD, HDD, storage systems, or a related technology.
• Working knowledge of NAND flash and other non-volatile storage is optional but plus.
• Experience in test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic/bus analyzers (good to have).
• Ability to work independently with a minimum of day-to-day supervision.
• Experience with team leadership and/or supervising junior engineers and technicians.Ability to work in a multi-functional team and under the pressure of multiple priorities.
