Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
Thomson Reuters invites an experienced Staff DevOps Engineer to design, build, and operate secure cloud platforms on Azure and AWS. You will lead container modernization, Kubernetes architecture (AKS), and day-to-day operations, including GPU workloads.
The role emphasizes IaC, CI/CD, GitOps, and cost-aware governance across teams. Mentoring engineers, establishing platform standards, and collaborating with security, product, and architecture teams are central.
Are you an experienced DevOps leader with deep expertise in Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code? Do you enjoy building cloud platforms that are secure, scalable, and cost-efficient, and helping other engineers improve along the way? If you like hands-on technical leadership at the point where cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and software delivery meet, we want you on our team. As a Staff DevOps Engineer, you'll lead the design and growth of our cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and software delivery practices. You'll lead by example, drive application and platform modernization, and build engineering patterns that teams across the organization can reuse. You'll work closely with software engineering, architecture, security, and product teams to deliver solutions that are secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient.
In this role as a Staff DevOps Engineer, you will:
Design, build, and run secure, scalable, highly available cloud-native platforms on Microsoft Azure and AWS.
On Azure, you'll build with App Service, Function Apps, AKS, API Management, Key Vault, Service Bus, Logic Apps, SQL Server, Cosmos DB, Storage, Virtual Machines, and Azure AI Foundry. On AWS, you'll build with EC2, Lambda, Elastic Beanstalk, Textract, API Gateway, storage, and related services.
Lead the move of legacy and .NET applications to cloud-native, containerized architectures.
Own Kubernetes and AKS architecture, deployment, security, scalability, resiliency, and day-to-day operations, including GPU-based AI and machine learning workloads.
Use Helm to standardize how applications are packaged and deployed, and create platform patterns that can be reused across applications, teams, and environments.
Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and Bicep. Create infrastructure modules and deployment patterns that are reusable, secure, compliant, and version-controlled. Expand automation and self-service so developers can deliver faster and more consistently.
Design, build, and improve CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Workflows, GitHub Actions, and Argo CD. Advance GitOps practices and automated deployment strategies across environments to increase deployment frequency, release quality, reliability, and engineering productivity.
Design and troubleshoot cloud networking, including VNets, subnets, network interfaces (NICs), private endpoints, DNS, load balancing, and network security.
Set up monitoring and observability with Datadog, Azure Application Insights, and related tools. Define useful alerts, health indicators, and incident response practices. Lead root cause analysis to stop incidents from happening again.
Find and lead cost optimization work across Azure and AWS. Balance cost, performance, security, reliability, and scalability in architecture decisions. Promote practical governance, resource usage standards, and engineering ownership of cloud spend.
Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on cloud, DevOps, and platform engineering. Mentor engineers, constructively challenge existing approaches, and raise the bar for architecture, automation, quality, and delivery.
Lead the creation of reference architectures, technical standards, and best practices. Shape platform strategy and explain decisions, risks, and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
