Job description

The SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Vacancy 2026 notification has been officially released on April 24, 2026. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is inviting applications for 1170 vacancies in various Central Government Departments. Eligible candidates can submit their online applications starting today through the new official portal at ssc.gov.in. The application window is open until May 15, 2026.

This year, SSC has introduced a Live Photo Upload system, making it mandatory for candidates to use a webcam or the official SSC App for their application photographs.

The fee is payable online through Net Banking, Debit/Credit cards, or UPI.

• Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 Intermediate Exam from any recognized board in India.
• Skill Requirement: Proficiency in Stenography is mandatory. Shortlisted candidates will undergo a Skill Test in Data Entry/Transcription.

  • Grade D: 18 – 27 Years.
  • Grade C: 18 – 30 Years.

Selection Process

• Computer-Based Test (CBT): Objective-type exam consisting of General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension.
• Skill Test in Stenography: Candidates will be given a dictation for 10 minutes in English/Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for Grade C and 80 w.p.m. for Grade D.
• Document Verification: Scrutiny of Class 12 certificates and identity proofs.
• Medical Examination: Final medical fitness clearance.
