Job summary

Shell is seeking a Sr Team Lead – Reservoir Engineering in India to lead a high-performing team supporting Rs1 reporting workflows across global assets. You will coach and coordinate the Rs1 Workflow Consultancy activities, engaging with RAR, HCP, Finance and Economics to ensure accurate volumetrics and data integrity.

You will partner with Rs1 Product Owner and global teams to align product vision, governance, and delivery milestones, while driving continuous improvement and stakeholder value.

What’s the role

The Sr Team Lead – Reservoir Engineering is a leadership role in the Reservoir Engineering Function of TAS (Technical Asset Support) responsible for building, coaching and sustaining a high performing team that can support various assets for RE activities, especially around Shell Reserves and Resource Reporting applications and workflows, with Resource One (Rs1) being the Group Ledger for reporting hydrocarbon resource volumes and the single integrated system for recording, managing & reporting Shell Petroleum Resources, forecast and HCM data capturing OP (Operating Plan) and ARPR (Annual Review of Petroleum Resources).

This role includes the responsibility of coordinating the Rs1 Workflow Consultancy (WfC) activities to support the Shell assets across the globe. As a coordinator, there will be opportunities to cooperate with and gain insight into a wide range of corporate functions and groups such as Resource Assurance and Reporting (RAR), Hydrocarbon Performance (HCP), Finance, Planning and Economics. It also gives opportunities to engage with Resource Volume Managers (RVM), Country Resource Focal Points (CRFP), as well as Reservoir Engineers across Shell.

What you’ll be doing (Duties and Responsibilities)
  • Working closely with Assets / Reservoir Engineers to understand current challenges in using the Rs1 application and providing improvement suggestions.
  • Support the E2E workflow in assessing and reporting volumetrics.
  • Participate and support OP/ARPR cycles with necessary data and insights.
  • Perform quality checks and connect with relevant stakeholders for verification / rectification.
  • Work alongside the Rs1 Product Owner and Rs1 Scrum team as part of the global natural Rs1 team and in close collaboration with the business, RAR, HCP, Finance, RE/PG Discipline and Economics Function.
  • Support the assets and interfaces between Rs1 & other applications, overall product lifecycle management, ensuring continued alignment with the overall product vision, creating more user value, and driving greater commercial value for Shell.
Rs1 Workflow Consultancy (WfC) Coordinator: Roles & Responsibilities
  • Lead WfC workload planning, prioritization, coordination, and delivery execution across the TAS team.
  • Manage asset and interface ownership, ensuring complex asset scopes are assigned appropriately.
  • Govern key Rs1 WfC processes, including user support, UAT, training, guidance packs, continuous improvement, KPI management, SharePoint administration, workflow governance.
  • Facilitate WfC team engagement through regular huddles and operational forums.
  • Represent the WfC community with the Rs1 Product Team, supporting UAT decisions, asset onboarding, interface governance, and enhancement requests.
  • Drive After-Action-Reviews for OP and ARPR cycles, consolidating feedback and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to governance forums and stakeholder reviews to enhance Rs1 performance and delivery outcomes.
  • Serve as the focal point for operational excellence, ensuring compliance with agreed workflows, governance standards, and delivery expectations.
TAS Team Leadership Accountabilities

Deliver HSSE and code of conduct performance of the team & team tasks. Deliver performance requirements (quality, timeliness, productivity etc.) for scopes migrated to team. Close value and efficiency Gap to Potential (GtP) for the migrated activities. Maintain organizational capability to deliver team scope and maintain operational continuity. Interface Management etc). HR Manage team.

TAS Team Leadership Responsibilities
  • Hire and onboard staff; develop and assure competency and autonomy for task delivery.
  • Integrate team members into Asset/Project natural teams and cadences.
  • Maintain plans for migrated tasks aligned with Asset/Project plans.
  • Conduct regular progress reviews and ensure delivery as planned.
  • Define and implement recovery plans when plans/ targets are missed.
  • Implement structured programs to assure team deliverables.
  • Develop and execute operational continuity plans for team scope.
  • Approve competency assessments and learning/development plans.
  • Identify and track improvement opportunities in migrated tasks.
  • Support terms of reference preparation, conduct operational cadence, communication, and reporting per TAS migration framework.
What you bring
  • Energetic and seasoned Reservoir Engineer with 8+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • University degree in Petroleum Engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • Technically strong in Reservoir Engineering with good all-round knowledge of other Petroleum Engineering disciplines.
  • Solid understanding of key business processes including Reserves & Resources Reporting, Business Planning, Hydrocarbon Maturation Strategy, Estimation, and Production Forecasting.
  • Experience in developing business cases and demonstrating the value of new functionality is an advantage.
  • Affinity for IT, digitalisation, and automation.
  • Business Analysis experience in an Agile software development environment is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across global virtual teams, influence stakeholders, and build trusted relationships across functions and cultures.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while ensuring objectives are met.
  • Strong aptitude for Continuous Improvement and a learner mindset.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including experience working in multidisciplinary teams, coaching and mentoring colleagues, and thinking beyond disciplinary boundaries.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to rapidly identify and focus on key issues.
