Job description

Amazon's Tax Account Compliance team is seeking a Senior Tax Program Manager to drive end-to-end program management for tax across Amazon's global Marketplace business. In this role, you will act as the embedded business risk owner, accountable for proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating tax risks. You will also translate regulatory requirements into detailed program requirements, coordinate cross-functional delivery with tech, product, legal, tax planning, operations and other partner teams, and program manage regulatory changes from scoping through to execution. At the same time, you will ensure programs are proportionate and risk-calibrated, minimizing false positives and protecting legitimate sellers while maintaining marketplace integrity.

The ideal candidate is a pragmatic, innovative program manager with experience building programs from the ground up, launching scalable solutions across multiple functions and organizations, and understanding seller pain points. You will raise the seller experience bar by optimizing controls, removing unnecessary friction, and reducing business impact from tax obligations. Problem-solving, program management skills, and executive communication are essential to be successful in this role.

Key job responsibilities
  • Drive VP/Director level goals
  • Translate regulatory requirements (e.g., VAT, JSL, Deemed Reseller) into detailed program requirements, working with tech and product partners on the development of new products and functionalities
  • Program manage end-to-end tax launches from scoping and requirements definition through cross-functional delivery and post-launch validation
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with legal, tax, tech, product, and operations teams to deliver scalable solutions
  • Raise the seller experience bar by optimizing controls, removing unnecessary friction, and reducing business impact from new and existing compliance obligations
  • Identify and resolve tax issues, bottlenecks, and dependencies; own remediation plans and drive continual process simplification
  • Oversee program health end-to-end and prepare program updates and recommendations for senior leadership
  • Perform competitive benchmarking to ensure Amazon programs meet or exceed industry standards
  • Promote a culture of compliance, proactively engaging stakeholders across business, operations, and technology teams
  • Influence roadmap prioritization by clearly articulating risk exposure and business impact
  • Proactively identify pain points and opportunities for continual process simplification and improvements.
