Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

A day in the life

As a Software Development Engineer on our team, you'll engage with the full software development lifecycle—from initial design conversations through deployment and operations. You might start your day reviewing a proposal to optimize tax calculation performance, then move into code review with teammates, discussing architectural approaches to handle increased transaction volume. You'll write and test code in our Java, Linux, and Oracle-based environment, collaborate with engineers across different Amazon business units to understand their tax requirements, and participate in on-call rotations to ensure our services remain reliable.
