Couchbase, a leading operational data platform, is seeking a Senior Specialist, Global Payroll & Equity to support a growing global workforce. You will own payroll processing across multiple regions, ensure compliance with local laws, and work with stakeholders to optimize payroll operations.

The role requires 8+ years in payroll, including global payroll support, and a strong focus on accuracy, controls, and process improvement. This position is based in Bengaluru, India, with a global scope.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of payroll experience, with 5–6 years supporting global payroll operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll functions, laws, setup, processing, tax compliance, and internal controls.
  • Strong communication skills to explain payroll processes to stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; able to apply past experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own the timely and accurate payroll process for India, UK and other assigned countries.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure payroll compliance with laws and company policies.
  • Ensure accurate payroll transactions and coordinate payroll funding with Accounting.
  • Perform off-cycle payroll runs and prepare payroll journal entries.
  • Analyze and streamline payroll processes, pursuing automation and efficiency gains.

We’re growing our team and are looking for a Senior Specialist, Global Payroll & Equity to support our expanding global workforce.

Responsibilities
  • Own the timely and accurate payroll process, including processing wages, timekeeping, bonuses, garnishments, taxes, and benefit deductions for India, UK and other countries as assigned. (APAC & EMEA)
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to process payroll, assist employees, and ensure compliance with company policies and all applicable local, state, federal, and international laws and regulations.
  • Ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and on time, including reviewing payroll registers and reports and coordinating payroll funding with Accounting.
  • Perform off-cycle payroll runs as required.
  • Prepare payroll journal entries and assist with account reconciliations.
  • Continuously evaluate, analyze, and streamline payroll processes, including identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Develop and maintain effective payroll procedures and internal controls.
  • Perform year-end payroll activities and related reporting.
  • Utilize payroll systems to support payroll processing, reporting, and system accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of payroll experience, with at least 5–6 years supporting global payroll operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll functions and applicable laws, payroll setup and processing, payroll tax compliance, balancing and reconciliation, deductions, and internal controls.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate payroll processes and complex administrative information to stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to apply past experience to inform decision-making.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment and interact with colleagues and business partners across the organization.
