Sr. Software QA Engineer

Role Description
We are seeking a Senior QA Engineer to join our Broadband R&D organization. In this role, you will be responsible for integration and end‑to‑end testing of complex embedded systems that involve both hardware and software components. The position requires strong PON domain expertise, hands‑on debugging skills, and the ability to execute and enhance automated test frameworks.
What You Will Be Doing
- Execute and maintain the build acceptance test suite used to qualify products for customer deployments
- Diagnose and resolve complex interoperability issues between ONUs and Harmonic’s vOLT through in‑depth analysis of logs, traces, and source code
- Analyze requirements for automated testing and maintain CI test suites by integrating new tests (written in Python) developed by other teams, while optimizing structure and coverage
- Collaborate closely with R&D Scrum teams to investigate complex issues, providing detailed technical analysis and reproducible scenarios
- Utilize automation and debugging tools to improve test coverage, execution efficiency, and root‑cause analysis
What You Will Need To Succeed
- BE/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech degree in CS/EC/IT or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in networking systems QA, integration, or R&D
- Proven experience in writing clear test plans, test cases, and bug reports, as well as executing test scenarios
- Strong knowledge of PON architecture, protocols, and specifications, including OLT/ONU interoperability
- Deep understanding of networking protocols, including IEEE 802.1Q/ad bridging and/or IPv4/IPv6 unicast and multicast routing
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Proficiency with Linux systems and network debugging tools (e.g., Wireshark, tcpdump)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to perform deep root‑cause analysis
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills in English. Ability to communicate effectively with different groups.
Would Be a Plus
- Experience with traffic generation tools (IXIA, iPerf)
- Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins)
- Scripting experience (Python, Bash, etc.)
- Hands‑on experience with virtualization technologies (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Background as a Networking/DevOps Engineer
