Scope

As a Sr. Software Engineer, you serve as a specialist in the engineering team that supports the team with the following responsibilities: Design, architect, implement and help operate the Machine Learning platform; develop and gain insight into the application architecture; distill an abstract architecture into concrete design and influence implementation; observe inefficiencies, in cost and reliability, of existing processes; research alternative solutions using custom or existing open-source technologies; design replacement processes and components; implement processes, extend and configure open-source components; work with the ML DevOps and Support teams to operate the ML platform by helping implement DevOps best practices of in-house and open-source components; ensure smooth operation via monitoring and alerting facilities; work with the ML data scientists to apply the appropriate software engineering patterns to build robust and scalable systems for both model building and serving.

What You'll Do

• Develop quality software according to clean code principles and Blue Yonder standards and write effective test cases.
• Autonomously pull issues from the team backlog or support other team members with their issues as appropriate.
• Participate in team activities such as backlog grooming, planning, daily stand‑ups, and retrospectives.
• Understand basic functional and technical requirements of software components.
• Contribute to designs of individual stories.
• Continuously improve yourself and the code you produce.
• Incorporate aspects of information security in your own work.
• Develop an understanding of how changes in the team’s deliverables affect other teams and the customer.
• Autonomously plan and perform routine changes.
• Independently resolve incidents around a limited set of service functions.
• Independently handle service requests.
• Realize that resource consumption directly affects SaaS profitability.

Secondary Duties And Responsibilities

• Autonomously perform small refactorings to improve local software quality.
• Be aware of the team's continuous integration pipeline and fix broken builds as necessary.
• Actively provide feedback during code reviews.
• Onboard new members to the team and help develop junior engineers.
• Assist associates with implementation and operational issues.
• Clearly communicate impediments and actively seek support from team members to overcome obstacles.
• Participate in implementing performance benchmark tests.
• Understand company and team visions and the problem domain your team works on.
• Demonstrate problem solving and innovation ability.

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science is required, master’s is preferred.
• 4+ years of software engineering experience building production software.
• Experience in frontend technologies, JavaScript, TypeScript, React.
• Good working knowledge of Kubernetes and other virtualized execution technologies.
• 1+ years of experience working on at least one cloud environment, GCP preferred.
• 4+ years of Python programming experience with excellent understanding of object‑oriented design & patterns.
• 3+ years of experience building REST APIs.
• 1+ years of experience working with Kafka and its integration with cloud services.
• 3+ years of Linux scripting experience.
• 1+ years working with traditional and new relational SQL DBMS; Hive and BigQuery preferred.
• 1+ years of experience with NoSQL databases; Cassandra, HBase, Redis.
• Strong CS fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
• Should have experience working with CI/CD, automated unit, and integration testing.
• Some experience with streaming frameworks, preferably Beam on Samza/Flink/DataFlow.
• Familiarity with modern Big Data computing platforms such as Hadoop and Spark.
• Exposure to one or more of: Pandas, NumPy, sklearn, Keras, TensorFlow, Jupyter, Matplotlib, etc.
• Good to have supply‑chain domain knowledge.
