Kyndryl in India is seeking an experienced software engineer to design, build and maintain high-volume business logic on core platforms. You will refactor legacy code to enable cloud and mobile interaction with mainframes data, while collaborating with a global team to deliver scalable solutions.

The role emphasizes Java, SpringBoot, microservices, and containerized deployment using Docker/Kubernetes, with exposure to CI/CD pipelines and both relational and NoSQL databases.

Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale software projects in Java.
• Strong coding skills with debugging and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with scalable software development and design patterns.
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, data mapping, XML/JSON, REST services.
• Knowledge of microservices, containers, messaging queues.

Your role Bring your specialist knowledge and experience to a company managing 50% of the worlds MIPS and play a critical role in our modernization mission.

Youll be in good company among our global community of experts leading the future of mainframe modernization. Experts who share knowledge openly and collaborate freely. In this role, youll design, build and maintain the high-volume business logic that runs on the mainframe. At the same time youll play a key role in refactoring legacy code to enable modern cloud and mobile applications to seamlessly interact with the mainframes core data.

Maintain Performance

Prevent decay and find efficiencies: Monitor the architecture and identify opportunities to optimize code to maintain and enhance mainframe performance.

Debug and Test

Find and fix: Debug, troubleshoot, and analyze complex system interactions to keep mission-critical applications running.

Bridge the gap: As an instrumental player in modernization, youll extract business logic from legacy systems for migration or integration with cloud-based services.

Who You Are

Required skills and experience

• Experience working as a software engineer on complex software projects.


• Excellent coding skills and solid development experience (Java) with debugging and problem-solving skills.


• Software development methodologies, with demonstrated experience developing scalable and robust software.


• Experienced in relational and NoSQL databases, data mapping, XML/JSON, REST-based web services.


• Knowledge of architecture design - Microservices architecture, containers (Docker & k8s), messaging queues.


• Deep understanding of OOP and design patterns.

Preferred skills and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.


• Certification in one or more of the hyperscalers (Azure, AWS, and Google GCP) - otherwise, you can obtain certifications with Kyndryl.


• Experience with DevOps tools and modern engineering practices.


• Java, SpringBoot, Awareness of SOLID, Microservices Architecture, Awareness of AWS Services (EC2, Lambda, S3, APIGateway, SQS, SNS, Cloudwatch, ECS etc), CI CD ((Jenkins / Gitlab)) pipelines, SQL, noSQL (Mongo/ DynamoDB), Awareness of Security (Spring and AWS IAM), Design patterns, HLD, LLD, Team co-ordination, leading a team, System documentation, Agile, Terraform.
