Job summary

Kyndryl seeks a software engineer to design, build and maintain high‑volume mainframe logic and refactor legacy code to enable cloud and mobile interactions with core data. You’ll work with a global team using Java, Python and .Net, mastering microservices, containers, databases, and RESTful services while pursuing modern engineering practices in a hybrid, supportive environment.

This role focuses on performance, debugging, and evolving systems for scalable, future‑proof software.

Qualifications

• Experience working as a software engineer on complex software projects.
• Excellent coding skills and solid development experience (Java, Python, .Net etc.) with debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Software development methodologies, with demonstrated experience developing scalable and robust software.
• Experienced in relational and NoSQL databases, data mapping, XML/JSON, REST-based web services.
• Knowledge of architecture design - Microservices architecture, containers (Docker & k8s), messaging queues.
• Deep understanding of OOP and design patterns.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with DevOps tools and modern engineering practices.

• Maintain Performance – Prevent decay and find efficiencies: Monitor the architecture and identify opportunities to optimize code to maintain and enhance mainframe performance.
• Debug and Test – Find and fix: Debug, troubleshoot, and analyze complex system interactions to keep mission‑critical applications running.
• Develop for the Future – Bridge the gap: As an instrumental player in modernization, you’ll extract business logic from legacy systems for migration or integration with cloud‑based services.

The Role

Your role Bring your specialist knowledge and experience to a company managing 50% of the world’s MIPS and play a critical role in our modernization mission. You’ll be in good company among our global community of experts leading the future of mainframe modernization. Experts who share knowledge openly and collaborate freely. In this role, you’ll design, build and maintain the high-volume business logic that runs on the mainframe. • Experience with DevOps tools and modern engineering practices.
