Job summary

The Walt Disney Company in Bengaluru is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain world-class applications that enhance Guest and Cast experiences. You will work in a scrum team to design scalable, high-performance services using Java/Spring, AWS, and modern CI/CD practices.

The role emphasizes collaboration with product owners and engineers, emphasis on test-driven development, and opportunities to experiment with new technologies while delivering robust distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering, analysis and design with full software development lifecycle experience.
• 5+ years of Java, Spring Framework, SQL (AuroraDB) and NoSQL (MongoDB) experience.
• Exposure to GraphQL / Graph DBs.
• 5+ years internet technologies, microservices architectures experience.
• 5+ years developing cloud native applications, preferably in AWS.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement reliable, high-throughput, low latency, scalable code for complex algorithms.
• Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and partners to propose extensible solutions.
• Proactively seek opportunities to reuse or generalize existing services.
• Experiment and develop proof of concept with relevant new technologies.
• Conduct code reviews with consistent scrutiny and thorough testing.
• Independently analyze and solve issues as an individual contributor.
• Troubleshoot and fix problems in lower and production environments.
• Write unit and component tests to ensure high quality code.
• Monitor and improve production run quality of applications.
• Work in a Scrum team and provide daily updates.
• Estimate effort for tasks and assist less senior developers.

We are looking for an engineer who has full stack programming experience and is enthusiastic to build and maintain new applications, improving our Guest and Cast experiences.

Roles and Responsibility:

• Design and implement reliable, high-throughput, low latency, scalable and well-documented code to tackle sophisticated algorithms
• Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and other partners to propose extensible, reusable and performant solutions
• Proactively seek opportunities to reuse or generalize existing services and implementations
• Experiment, develop proof of concept with relevant new technologies
• Conduct code review pull-requests with consistent scrutiny
• Able to work independently to analyze andsolveissues as an individualcontributor
• Troubleshoot, fix problems reported in lower and production environments
• Write unit and component tests to ensure delivery of high quality code
• Monitor and proactively improve production run quality of applications
• Work in a scrum team and provide your daily updates
• Estimate effort for assigned development tasks, assist in estimating level of effort for less senior level developers

Required Skills and Experience:

80% of Work, Primary:

• 5+ Years of software engineering, analysis and design with full software development lifecycle experience.
• 5+ years of Java, Spring Framework, SQL (AroraDB) and NoSQL-based databases (MongoDB), writing complex SQL queries and building highly scalable and highly performant distributed applications and web services experience.
• Exposure to GraphQL / Graph DBs
• 5+ years Internet technologies, microservices architectures experience.
• 5+ Developing cloud native applications, preferably in AWS experience

20% of Work, Secondary:

• Experience with Docker / Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools
• Demonstrated strong analytical skills.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming with an understanding of design principles

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in the commerce space and products / pricing / inventory domains

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar field or related equivalent experience
• Domain knowledge in multiple technical and business areas
