Amazon Kindle is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to own features across the E-reader stack, from device firmware to apps, with a focus on performance, security and power efficiency. You will lead design and architecture, mentor engineers, and collaborate with multiple teams across Amazon to deliver reading experiences on Kindle devices and iOS/Android apps.

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will own adding capabilities as we unlock more features on Kindle E-reader family. Our goal is to make it fast, easy and low-cost for our internal application developers to build features and release them on our E-reader stack. You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and given the size of this initiative, you'll have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams across Amazon. We will need to tackle problems that span a variety of domains: software, hardware, networks and distributed systems as well as automation. You design and develop the critical components in E-reader that make the product a performant, secure and power optimized device. Along the way you'll learn a ton, have fun and make a positive impact on millions of people.
In this role, you will be actively engaged in developing our E-reader software that are based on C/C++. You will be contacted by many Amazonian as they deploy their software on E-reader. You will also be the lead engineer for your team in guiding them both on design and best practices. Ship and review C++, ReactNative or Java for reading features on Kindle E-Reader, Kindle Apps on iOS/Android. Collaborate with peers, product owners, UX designers and partner tech teams on architecture and design of reading features. Adapt the customer experience for the next generation of Kindle E-Reader devices focusing on operational excellence, monitoring the team's code deployment pipelines and dashboards Root cause issues and propose solutions Train new team members on how E-Reader and Kindle Application software is constructed, how it operates, how secure it is, and how it fits into the bigger picture.
