Job summary

AspenTech in Bengaluru seeks a senior Power Systems engineer to lead delivery of EMS/GMS/DERMS solutions for utilities. You will analyse customer requirements, define engineering approaches, and guide a team of engineers through modelling, design, and testing across the project lifecycle.

The role involves technical leadership, architecture input, and risk assessment for complex contracts, with global travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering degree required; 12+ years in Power System Analysis and EMS.
• Postgraduate/PhD in Power Systems desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall technical leadership for delivery of EMS/GMS/DERMS solutions to utilities.
• Analyse customer requirements and design documents to define engineering solutions.
• Lead engineers in power system modelling and network applications engineering through lifecycle.
• Apply engineering judgment to resolve data gaps and modelling challenges.
• Manage design and development of custom applications per project needs.
• Establish QA processes to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Interface with customers, project teams and product development to align objectives.
• Participate in customer meetings, workshops and design reviews.
• Contribute to solution architecture, effort estimation, and risk assessments.
• Travel to project sites globally as required; mentor project teams.
• Understand customer contracts and manage risks for complex engagements.
• Experience with PSSE/PowerFactory/ETAP preferred.

The Role

Your Impact

• Provide overall technical leadership for delivery of solutions to utilities using EMS/GMS/DERMS products, ensuring successful delivery of project scope, quality, schedule, and customer expectations.

• Analyse customer requirements, technical specifications, and functional design documents to define the engineering solution and implementation approach.

• Lead a team of engineers with power system modelling, network applications engineering and power system analysis throughout the project lifecycle, from initial design through commissioning and operational support.

• Apply engineering judgment to resolve data gaps and modelling challenges when customer inputs are incomplete, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.

• Manage design and development of custom applications to meet project requirements.

• Establish and oversee quality assurance processes to ensure all deliverables are thoroughly tested and comply with organizational quality standards.

• Act as the primary technical interface between customers, project teams and product development teams to ensure alignment on technical objectives and project outcomes.

• Participate in customer meetings, technical workshops and design meetings representing the EMS/GMS engineering team.

• Contribute to solution architecture, engineering effort estimation, project planning, and technical risk assessments in support of business development and proposal activities.

• Graduate in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics engineering. Post-graduate/PhD in Power Systems or related discipline is desirable.

• 12+ years’ work experience in Power System Analysis and Energy Management Systems.

• Strong electrical utilities operations knowledge is preferred.

• Knowledge on solution delivery with OT systems of AspenTech DGM or competitors such as Hitachi Network Manager, GE Vernova GridOS, Siemens Spectrum power, or similar is highly preferred

• Ability to manage and successfully deliver multiple projects concurrently.

• Ability and flexibility to travel to project sites globally based on project need.

• Ability to lead a project team and act as a mentor for team members.

• Excellent ability to understand customer contracts, manage stakeholders such as end customers and delivery partners, and ability to provide right technical inputs to manage risks for AspenTech DGM in complex contracts.

• Experience with network modelling and simulation tools such as PSSE, PowerFactory, ETAP is preferred.
