Job summary

Baxter Healthcare is seeking a Sr Principal Engineer, Software to lead the architecture, design, development, and delivery of scalable software solutions leveraging C#, .NET, and microservices architectures, while providing technical leadership, mentoring engineering teams, and driving engineering excellence across the software development lifecycle.

As a senior leader, you will design and implement integrations using REST APIs, WebSockets, SignalR, and real-time voice communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 13+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong technical leadership and stakeholder-influencing skills.
• Experience with .NET, C#, Web APIs, microservices, and Kubernetes.

• Leads complex programs or key workstreams, including planning, scheduling, and execution.
• Translates product and software requirements into architecture, concepts, and design alternatives.

• Serves as a subject-matter expert and influences technical direction across teams.

Job Summary

Sr Principal Engineer, Software leads the architecture, design, development, and delivery of scalable, cost-effective software solutions leveraging C#, .NET, and microservices architectures, while providing technical leadership, mentoring engineering teams, and driving engineering excellence across the software development lifecycle.

What you’ll be doing

• Designs and architects’ scalable software solutions using modern engineering practices.
• Leads complex programs or key workstreams, including planning, scheduling, and execution.
• Translates product and software requirements into architecture, concepts, and design alternatives.
• Solves ambiguous, complex technical problems while balancing quality, cost, time, and business needs.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams, users, and external partners to deliver and maintain software architecture.
• Serves as a subject-matter expert and influences technical direction across teams and product platforms.
• Mentor engineers and may coordinate assigned engineering or technical staff.
• Design and implement integrations using REST APIs, WebSockets, SignalR, and real-time voice communication technologies.
• Apply HIPAA-aligned security practices for data handling, authentication, voice communications, messaging, and notifications.

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 13 years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong technical leadership, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-influencing skills.
• Ability to align technical decisions with business objectives, cost, quality, and delivery expectations.
• Advanced experience with .NET, C#, Web APIs, microservices, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Azure or AWS and relational database design, including SQL Server.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular, or React is desirable.
• Proven record of delivering solutions to complex technical challenges; medical-device software experience is preferred.

Good to have

• Experience with WebRTC, SIP, VoIP, media sessions, call signaling, or voice gateway integrations.
• Experience building secure communication, clinical communication, messaging, or alerting applications.
• Experience troubleshooting real-time voice quality, connectivity, latency, reconnection, and device compatibility issues.
