Job summary

Ecolab in Bengaluru seeks an experienced software professional to lead parts of projects through phase gate processes, write substantial code, and ensure design standards and documentation are met.

You will help shape architecture, fix defects found in QA, assist in requirements gathering, and may coach junior engineers while guiding testing and lab staff. The role emphasizes collaboration across teams and delivering robust software products in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree and 5-8 years experience; or no degree and 9-12 years combined education and equivalent work experience.
• Ability to lead projects through phase gate process.
• Strong coding skills and adherence to design standards.
• Experience coaching other engineers is a plus.

Assists in leading software development projects through phase gate process. Writes significant amount of the code that meets project requirements and complies with documentation and design standards. Writes the standard documentation used to translate project needs into software design specifications. Assists in creating overall architecture for various software systems. Corrects defects found through QA software testing and systems testing. Assists in requirements gathering and product definition activities as projects start, and supports field test personnel after development. May coach other engineers, and occasionally provides direction to testing and lab support personnel. Activities address challenging aspects of code, documentation development, and contribute to oversight of software team work product.

Education & Work Experience

Typically requires a degree and 5-8 years experience; or no degree and 9-12 years combined education and equivalent work experience (typically 1 year experience = 1 year education).

Reporting & Leadership

Applies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Leads projects/research with moderate complexity. May provide coaching and review the work of lower-level professionals. Normally reports to Software Engineering Manager.
