Job summary

Lam Research India is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and define cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, perform feasibility studies, testing, and guide teams in detailed design and fabrication.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, lead design reviews, and address production issues during the first build. Requires Creo, GD&T, and 4–5 years of experience in mechanical design.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical engineering; M.Tech is a plus.
• 4–5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design.
• Ability to generate drawings with GD&T and modify parts.
• Experience with design reviews, cross-functional teams, and issue resolution.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design projects from concept to validation.
• Generate and coordinate engineering drawings and BOMs.
• Conduct stress, deflection, and thermal analyses; provide corrective actions.
• Participate in design reviews and interface with PG counterparts in India/US.

Lam Research India team is organized into three major areas of responsibility: Hardware, Software, and Operations. We have an open position in the Hardware group. The Hardware group, designs subassemblies and subsystems for Lam s product lines, providing innovation for the next-generation products, providing improvements in cost and reliability. In Hardware group, mechanical engineers, simulation analysts, electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and supplier quality engineers contribute to designing and improving Lam s products.

Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification: B.E/B.Tech (Mechanical) M.Tech is an added advantage
• Years of experience: 4-5 years of relevant experience

Mandatory Skills

• Leads mechanical design projects by contributing to conceptualization, development, analysis, documentation and test/validation of mechanical components
• Ability to generate drawings and decide GD&T.
• Ability to modify and augment existing parts to meet new requirements and designs.
• Provide immediate response and timely resolution to design related production issues encountered during the first build process, product performance and customer field issues
• Collaborate with technical owner to study and recommend corrective solutions for Problem Reports of varying complexities; ability to address Problem Reports of highest complexity
• Provide immediate response and timely resolution to design related issues.
• Conduct/Participate in Design review to get buy-in from all cross functional teams.
• Leading Interactions with PG counterpart in India / US and influencing the decision making and strategies
• Leads hand calculations for stress, deflection, factor of safety, center of gravity, Free body diagram for static and dynamic conditions
• Designs machined components, frames, sheet metal parts
• Knowledge of Creo

Additional and Desirable Skills:

• Proficient in 3D Modelling, Assembly and Detailing using CREO (Nx is optional).
• Proficiency in designing medium complex sheet metal and machined structures and release of manufacturing drawings
• Knowledge of PDM and PLM system like Team center and SAP PLM, etc.
• Well versed with interpretation of mechanical drawings/specifications and electrical schematics.
• Knowledge in Engineering Change Management Process
• Good knowledge of GD&T dimensioning for drawings.
• Knowledge about Thermal hand calculations and basic simulations (Conduction, Convection, Heat dissipation and increase in temperature) to facilitate selection of heat sinks, Cooling systems like Fans etc
• Problem solving and decision-making skills
• Teamwork and collaboration skills
• Should have good communication skills (written & verbal) and presentation skill
• Create and release engineering drawings & bill of materials using Engineering Change Management process.
