Job Purpose
To design , manage and control the quality of raw materials, in-process materials and finished products manufactured at the plant, ensuring compliance with defined specifications, customer requirements, quality standards and internal procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day Quality Control activities for speciality chemical manufacturing operations.
- Conduct and supervise testing of raw materials, in-process samples and finished speciality chemical products as per approved specifications and test methods.
- Ensure timely testing and release of raw materials and finished products to support uninterrupted production and dispatch.
- Monitor critical quality parameters such as pH, viscosity, density, solids content, moisture, colour, appearance and other product-specific parameters.
- Review test results and ensure accuracy, reliability and proper documentation of QC reports.
- Investigate Out of Specification results, deviations, quality failures and process-related quality issues and coordinate appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate closely with Production, R&D, Technical, Stores and Dispatch teams for resolution of quality-related issues.
- Prepare and review COA, test reports, batch quality records and other QC documentation.
- Ensure proper sampling, identification, testing and retention of samples.
- Maintain and control product specifications, testing methods, SOPs and QC records.
- Monitor calibration, verification and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, GMP/quality practices, ISO requirements, safety procedures and internal quality systems.
- Support investigation and resolution of customer complaints, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Participate in internal, customer and external audits and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
- Develop and implement improvements in QC testing methods, laboratory practices and quality-control systems.
- Guide, train and supervise QC laboratory personnel on testing procedures, documentation, safety and quality requirements.
- Ensure proper laboratory housekeeping, chemical handling and safety compliance.
- Maintain confidentiality of product formulations, specifications, test methods and technical information.
Experience
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Quality Control in Speciality Chemicals / Chemical Manufacturing.
- Experience in textile chemicals, textile auxiliaries, performance chemicals, dyes or allied speciality chemicals will be preferred.
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing QC laboratory with exposure to batch-wise testing and product release.
Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge of chemical analysis and laboratory testing techniques.
- Good understanding of speciality chemical manufacturing processes and quality parameters.
- Knowledge of OOS, CAPA, deviation management, root-cause analysis and quality documentation.
- Experience in preparation/review of COA and batch quality records.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems.
- Good knowledge of laboratory equipment, calibration and analytical methods.
- Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of LIMS will be an advantage.
