Job summary

Reliance Industries Limited in Navi Mumbai seeks a seasoned environmental leader to govern environmental governance, regulatory compliance and risk management for large industrial projects. You will define standards, oversee monitoring, and guide EMPs and audits, interfacing with regulators and site teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering / Environmental Sciences / Chemical Engineering.
  • 12-18 years of progressive experience in environmental management for energy, mining, chemicals or large industrial projects.
  • Strong expertise in environmental regulations, groundwater and wastewater management, emissions control and audit processes.
  • Proven experience handling regulatory interfaces, inspections and compliance assurance.
  • High level of technical judgement, documentation capability and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel across project and operational locations as required.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and govern environmental compliance frameworks aligned with statutory approvals, environmental clearances and project commitments.
  • Oversee environmental monitoring and performance management, focusing on groundwater protection, wastewater management, emissions control and waste handling.
  • Review and guide implementation of EMP, risk mitigation measures and site-specific environmental safeguards.
  • Act as the key interface for environmental regulators, auditors and statutory authorities at site and regional levels.
  • Review environmental data, trends, and risks and recommend proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Provide expert inputs for environmental impact assessments, regulatory submissions and technical responses.
  • Support integration of environmental considerations into project design, operations and change management decisions.
  • Oversee environmental audits, inspections and compliance reviews ensuring timely closure of observations.
  • Mentor and technically guide environment engineers and site teams ensuring consistency and quality of execution.
  • Prepare and present environmental performance updates and risk assessments to management.

Job description

Job Purpose:

To ensure robust environmental governance, regulatory compliance and risk assurance for coal gasification projects by defining standards overseeing environmental controls and managing complex environmental risks across project and operational phases.

Key Responsibilities:
