Job summary

Burckhardt Compression India is seeking a Sr. I&C Engineer to lead electrical and instrumentation activities for energy projects in Pune.

You will define specs, prepare BOMs, develop control philosophy, and coordinate with vendors to ensure on-time delivery and quality. The role requires 9–14 years in oil & gas, strong knowledge of IEC/API/ASME standards, and hands-on experience with PLC-based starters and Fieldbus instrumentation.

Qualifications

• BE / B Tech (Instrumentation) with 9–14 years of experience in oil & gas applications.
• Awareness of rotating/static equipment design and project management.
• Knowledge of IEC, API, ASME, ASTM, DIN and related standards.
• Fluency in English (spoken & written).
• Knowledge of PLC systems (SIL-2/3), VFDs and soft starters is a must.
• Knowledge of Hazardous Area Instrumentation and electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD / UG for 2D & 3D modelling is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Foundation Fieldbus Instrumentation is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with PLC-based starter/control panels is a plus.
• Knowledge of EOHS.

Responsibilities

• Understand contract scope for electrical and instrumentation.
• Execute electrical and instrumentation activities per project requirements.
• Prepare specifications for instrumentation and electrical items (motors, heaters).
• Plan BOM and cabling for instrumentation.
• Draft logic diagrams and control philosophies per project and P&ID.
• Coordinate with vendors for drawings submission and approvals.
• Maintain proper documentation.
• Support SCM by issuing RFQs and evaluating quotations.
• Assist QA with inspection of materials on receipt.
• Prepare QAPs for electrical/instrumentation packages.
• Inspect electrical/instrumentation items at vendors sites.
• Assist Section Head with engineering coordination and follow-up.
• Provide technical guidance to I&C engineers for project execution.
• Mentor team members and promote engineering best practices.
• Facilitate stakeholder communication to resolve issues.
• Support CSS with troubleshooting and commissioning of compressor controls.

Position: Sr. I & C Engineer

Location: Kondhapuri

Your contributions to organiser's growth

• Understand contract with respect to electrical and instrumentation scope.
• Execution of electrical and instrumentation activity related to the projects with respective to following:
• Preparation of the specifications of instrumentation and electrical (Motor, Heaters etc.) items.
• Preparation of the schedule and BOM for cabling and instrumentation
• Preparation of logic diagram and control philosophy as per the project and P & I
• Follow-up with the vendor for drawing submission and approval.
• Proper document handling
• Support to SCM department in:
• Floating enquiries for electrical and instrumentation project items as required.
• Evaluate quotations with respect to specs and customer requirements,
• Clearing the GRR of the goods received as required.
• Support to QA department in:Inspection of the material on receipt at stores.
• Preparation of the QAP for electrical and instrumentation items.
• Inspections of the electrical and instrumentation items at vendors place.
• Assist Section Head - Electrical and Instrumentation for engineering and co-ordination / follow-up.
• Support I&C engineers by providing technical expertise, engineering guidance, and practical solutions to ensure successful project execution and operational reliability.
• Leverage experience in leading and coordinating small engineering teams to drive collaboration, knowledge sharing, task prioritization, and successful project delivery.
• Mentor and support team members by providing technical expertise, conducting design reviews, and promoting engineering best practices.
• Facilitate effective communication between stakeholders and engineering teams to ensure timely resolution of technical issues and achievement of project objectives.
• Support CSS department in:
• Troubleshooting.
• Commissioning of the compressor’s controls and instrumentations.
• Site co-ordination and reporting day to progress in commissioning.
• Maintain & adhere QMS & procedures.

Education/ experience / languages:

• BE / B Tech (Instrumentation) 9 – 14 years of experience in similar business and in Oil &Gas applications.
• Awareness of engineering of rotating / static equipment’s and project management.
• Knowledge of international standards like IEC, API, ASME, ASTM, DIN etc.
• Fluent in English orally and in writing
• Knowledge of various PLC systems (SIL-2/3), Variable frequency drives, and soft starters is must.
• Knowledge of Hazardous Area Instrumentation and electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD / UG for 2D & 3D modelling will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Foundation Fieldbus Instrumentation is preferred.
• Hands on Experience on PLC based starter cum control panel will be added advantage.
• Knowledge of EOHS
