Job summary

General Mills is seeking an Inventory Accountant in Mumbai to ensure accurate recording of inventory-related financial transactions and to prepare reports for PET internal/external facilities. The role emphasizes strong finance/accounting expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and SOX compliance.

You will develop and standardize PET processes, manage discrepancies, and generate daily/weekly/monthly reports while partnering with Mumbai and Minneapolis teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in inventory/accounting roles.
• Familiarity with SAP system functionality preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy; able to meet deadlines.
• Ability to question, influence and lead process changes to improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Build structured processes for PET ESCs and WHs (replicating controls & policies).
• Issue resolution for Inventory Management reports for PET.
• Resolve inventory discrepancies related to movements and receipts.
• Address missing receipts and related issues with internal/external teams.

Overview

Ensure accurate and timely recording of Inventory related financial transactions in compliance with accounting controls and prepare information and reports for PET Internal/External manufacturing/storage facilities. Responsibilities require functional expertise in finance and accounting, strong customer relations and communication skills, and ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively.

Key Accountabilities

• -Build structured processes for below mentioned activities for PET ESCs and WHs (replicating NAR controls & policies)
• -Issue Resolution related to various Inventory Management reports for PET
• -Resolution of inventory discrepancies related with Inventory movements.
• -Resolution of inventory discrepancies related with Goods Receipts v/s Invoice Receipts
• -Resolution of missing receipts related issues.
• -Work independently / directly with external and internal plants to ensure accurate and timely resolution.
• -Raise important questions during the planning phase
• -Ensure all KPIs & SLAs are consistently met
• -Review, resolve & document any exceptions or outliers in the process
• -Support business continuity to meet critical business objectives.
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly/ad-hoc reports
• -Transition & standardize PET process for QBA.
• Identify, initiate, and implement process improvement ideas. Leverage Continues Improvement tools or mindset to identify recurring issues and work towards Institutional Solution.
• -Ensure clear process documentation is in place, utilized and updated in timely manner.
• Demonstrate Subject Matter Expertise in the process.
• Support audit and control to ensure compliance with GMI and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
• -Develop strong relationships with business partners including other Mumbai support teams and Minneapolis headquarter teams.
• -Actively participate in team or site events/initiatives
• Mentor/ coach new team members

Minimum Qualification

• Minimum Degree Requirements:Bachelors
• Minimum years of related experience required: 5

Preferred Qualification

• Preferred Degree Requirements:Bachelors
• Preferred Major Area of Study: Accounting and Finance
• Preferred years of related experience: 5 to 7 years.
• Proven Issue resolution skills
• -Prior customer service, inventory management experience preferred.
• -Familiarity with SAP system functionality preferred.
• Consistent attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to question, recommend, influence and lead process changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness for the team and stakeholders.
• -Advanced MS Office computer skills preferred (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
• Speaks, reads and writes English fluently
