Job summary

Vertiv in India (Pune/Chakan) seeks a strategic Thermal Management engineering leader to guide a local team and drive technical excellence for chilled water products, including chillers, CRAH, and Thermal Wall solutions.

You will coordinate NPDI initiatives, sustain existing CW platforms, and align with global standards while mentoring engineers and collaborating across Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain. Travel to support global reviews may be required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Energy, Refrigeration, HVAC or equivalent engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in HVAC, data center cooling, refrigeration or industrial thermal products.
  • Strong knowledge of chilled water systems, chillers, CRAH units and Thermo Wall solutions.
  • Experience with NPDI processes, product lifecycle management and sustaining engineering.
  • Understanding of manufacturability, cost reduction and supplier collaboration.
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, regulatory expectations for industrial cooling equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the local Thermal Management engineering team in Pune and/or Chakan with ownership, accountability and technical excellence.
  • Oversee engineering execution of Chilled Water products, including chiller, CRAH and Thermal Wall lines.
  • Support NPDI programs from concept to launch with timely deliverables and reviews.
  • Coordinate sustaining engineering activities for existing CW platforms with improvements and localization.
  • Ensure alignment with global strategy, standards, rules and roadmaps for CW.
  • Drive resolution of key technical issues to prevent delays and support manufacturing readiness.
  • Provide technical leadership on thermodynamics, refrigeration circuits, controls integration and design for manufacturability.
  • Coordinate lab tests and product validation with global leaders and operations teams.
  • Support regional requests with fast, robust and platform-consistent engineering responses.
  • Review and approve technical docs including specifications, drawings, BOMs, user manuals and test reports.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, regulatory and engineering standards for CW products.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality on industrialization and supplier development.
  • Develop team through coaching, performance management and mentoring.
  • Promote continuous improvement, standard work and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Operate in a multi-disciplinary global environment focused on high performance and reliability.
  • Willingness to travel within India and internationally for reviews, supplier activities, projects and tests.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Master degree in Mechanical, Energy, Refrigeration, HVAC or equivalent engineering discipline is required; master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of engineering experience in HVAC, data center cooling, refrigeration or industrial thermal products, with proven people management responsibility.
  • Strong technical knowledge of chilled water systems, chillers, CRAH units, Thermal Wall solutions, thermodynamics, refrigeration circuits, air handling and hydronic systems.
  • Experience with NPDI processes, product lifecycle management, design reviews, validation planning, engineering change management and sustaining engineering.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, design for manufacturability, cost reduction, localization and supplier collaboration.
  • Knowledge of applicable technical norms, safety standards, quality requirements and regulatory expectations for industrial cooling equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build, motivate and develop high-performing engineering teams in a matrix and global organization.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to interact effectively with global stakeholders, customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Result-oriented, structured, detail-focused and able to operate in a fast-paced, customer-focused and competitive environment.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority, manage priorities, resolve technical conflicts and drive decisions across functions and geographies.
