Job summary

PeopleStrong in Chennai hires an experienced Electrical Engineering lead to manage a team of electrical and CAD engineers. You will review designs, own tender and project tasks, and ensure compliance with NEC, IS, BS, IEC and IEEE standards.

You will perform load flow and voltage drop analyses, optimize power distribution, and drive project schedules while coordinating with mechanical, ELV, and instrumentation teams to ensure successful integration and safe installations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BEE) degree required.
• Experience leading electrical design teams on projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, IS, BS, IEC and IEEE standards.

Job Description

• Lead and manage a team of electrical engineers and CAD Engineers in the development of electrical designs, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to project timelines
• Review and approve electrical system designs and layouts created by the design team to ensure they meet project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
• Take ownership of electrical design tasks for tenders and ongoing projects, ensuring designs are completed on time and to the required quality standards
• Perform electrical system calculations, including load flow analysis and voltage drop assessments, to optimize the performance and efficiency of the power distribution network
• Ensure that electrical components, such as Transformer, DG, UPS, cables, busbars, and electrical panels, are designed to meet with specification and client requirements and maintaining safety and reliability
• Create, develop, and manage detailed schedules for electrical engineering projects.
• Oversee the design, installation of electrical systems to ensure they meet client specifications, project requirements, safety standards, and regulatory codes.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical, ELV and Instrumentation teams, as well as other project stakeholders, to ensure the successful integration of electrical systems into the overall project.
• Oversee and approve the electrical designs, drawings, and specifications developed by the design team.
• Address and resolve any technical challenges that arise during the electrical design, procurement, and construction phases.
• Ensure that all electrical designs, systems, and installations comply with relevant codes, industry standards, and safety regulations (e.g., NEC,IS,BS,IEC, IEEE).
• Strive to optimize electrical designs to balance cost-effectiveness, safety, and efficiency while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Ensure that all project documentation is maintained in accordance with ISO standards, ensuring that all files are up to date and compliant with regulatory and client requirements
• Identify opportunities for process enhancements, implement best practices, and drive innovation in design and engineering workflows to increase Quality and efficiency.
• Oversee and ensure the quality of electrical systems and all associated deliverables, including design documents, specifications, and installation plans.
• Work closely with vendors and contractors to select suitable materials and equipment for electrical systems, ensuring that they meet project specifications and design requirements.
• Review and evaluate vendor proposals to ensure that the materials, components, and systems offered meet the required project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
• Prepare project progress reports, technical documents, and presentations for stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records of Electrical designs, material certifications, and inspection reports.
• Provide technical guidance during fabrication, assembly, and installation of Electrical systems.
• Conduct site visits to ensure installations comply with designs and address any onsite issues.
• Prepare as-built drawings and documentation post-construction.
• Drive innovation in Electrical design and installation techniques.
• Stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends to improve efficiency and performance.
