Job summary

RackBank Datacenters Private Ltd. in India is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to oversee execution, supervision and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing and fire-protection systems for critical data center infrastructure.

You will coordinate with vendors and contractors, review technical drawings, ensure quality compliance, and drive reliable operation of cooling systems. The role requires a BE/B.Tech in Mechanical (or a Diploma with 8+ years) and hands-on experience with chiller plants, CRAC/CRAH,

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech – Mechanical (full-time) or Diploma with significant experience.
• Strong knowledge of chilled water systems and data-center cooling technologies.
• Experience with CRAC/CRAH, VESDA and fire suppression.
• Ability to review drawings, BOQ and vendor submissions.
• Quality and safety compliance in site execution.
• Experience in testing, commissioning and handover documentation.

Role Overview:

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for execution, supervision, and maintenance of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and fire-fighting systems for critical data centre infrastructure. The role involves vendor/contractor coordination, technical drawing review, quality compliance, testing & commissioning, and ensuring reliable operation of critical cooling systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execution and supervision of HVAC, plumbing and fire-fighting works at site against approved GFC drawings
• Technical review of vendor GTP / QAP, drawings and BOQ deviations
• Contractor and OEM coordination, progress tracking, quality and safety compliance
• Material inspection, receipt checklists and installation checklists
• Support to testing, commissioning and handover documentation

Key Requirements: Must Have

• B.E. / B.Tech – Mechanical (full-time). Diploma with 8+ years may be considered.
• Chilled water systems – air-cooled / water-cooled chillers, primary-secondary pumping, thermal storage tanks.
• CRAC / CRAH / in-row units, RDHX, AHUs, dry coolers and heat rejection systems.
• Chilled water piping – headers, valves, strainers, expansion tanks, insulation, hydraulic balancing.
• Ducting, air distribution, hot / cold aisle containment and airflow management.
• VESDA, fire suppression (NOVEC / FM200 / inert gas), fire pumps, sprinklers and smoke extraction.
• Ventilation, pressurisation, plumbing, water treatment and make-up water systems.
• Testing & commissioning – flushing, hydro testing, TAB, IST / SAT, load bank and integrated system testing.
• Reading and checking schematics, P&IDs, equipment layouts, GA drawings, load and pipe sizing calculations.

Preferred Background:

• Experience on Tier III / Uptime-certified or Rated-3 facilities
• Exposure to N+1 and 2N redundancy topologies and PUE / WUE-driven design
• Direct-to-chip liquid cooling (DCLC), CDUs, immersion cooling or other high-density cooling deployments
• CDCP / CDCS or equivalent data center certification.
