Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. in Hyderabad is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in the Systems Integration Group. You will create software for internal equipment, interfacing to hardware in bare metal and Linux environments.

Work with a global team of software, electrical, and mechanical engineers to design and support next-generation memory testers, developing in C/C++, Python, and ensuring robust software through debugging and documentation.

Qualifications

• C and C++ proficiency.
• Familiarity with Python.
• Fundamental electrical engineering knowledge.
• Familiarity with schematics.
• Familiarity with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, SMUs).
• Foundation in Computer Science.

Responsibilities

• Developing embedded and interface software, providing input to schematic design, reviewing PCB layouts, prototyping circuits, debugging analog and digital hardware, automating testing, developing user libraries to control hardware, and creating documentation.
• Coding primarily in C, C++, and Python under Linux for various microcontrollers and computing modules acting as the interface to custom hardware.
• Work closely with globally located software, electrical, mechanical, and control engineers in the design and development of next-generation memory testers.
• Support existing equipment and develop/debug in C/C++ for embedded environments and in C++/Python for hardware interface environments.
• Use lab equipment for design bring-up, characterization and testing, and communicate effectively through technical documents.
• Integrate AI-enabled enhancements to improve efficiency, quality, and effectiveness while complying with standards and legal requirements.

About profile – Embedded Software Engineer, System Software Development

As an Embedded Software Engineer in the Systems Integration Group (SIG), you will help create software for internal equipment used across Assembly & Test organization in one of the world’s largest semiconductor companies. Working in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment you will work with a global team creating software for a variety of internal equipment. We are looking for engineers who are hands-on, self-motivated, excited to learn, and grow individually and as a team. You will create software that interfaces to various hardware in bare metal, and Linux environments. You will work with other software engineers and other engineering disciplines to create and support this custom equipment from the ground up.

Responsibilities

Our embedded software engineers are challenged daily with a wide range of challenges and responsibilities.

• Working in cross-disciplinary design teams involving software, electrical, controls, and mechanical engineers designing new equipment to meet customer needs.
• Developing embedded and interface software, providing input to schematic design, reviewing PCB layouts, prototyping circuits, debugging analog and digital hardware, automating testing, developing user libraries to control hardware, and creating documentation.
• Desire to understand, debug, and fix issues spanning layers of software, and PCB hardware.
• Coding primarily in C, C++, and Python under Linux for various microcontrollers and computing modules acting as the interface to custom hardware.
• Work closely with globally located software, electrical, mechanical, and control engineers in the design and development of next-generation memory testers.
• Supporting existing equipment.
• Develop/Debug in C/C++ for embedded environments.
• Develop/Debug in C++ and Python for the hardware interface environment.
• Use of lab equipment for design bring-up, characterization and testing.
• Communication – written, spoken, creating technical documents.
• Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, and effectiveness while exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within the scope of work.

Minimum Qualifications

• C, C++ proficiency
• Python familiarity
