Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in the Systems Integration Group. You will develop software for internal equipment used across Assembly & Test, interfacing with hardware in bare metal and Linux environments.

Qualifications

• C, C++ proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Work in cross-disciplinary design teams with software, electrical, controls, and mechanical engineers to design new equipment to meet customer needs.
• Develop embedded and interface software; review PCB layouts, prototype circuits, debug hardware, automate testing, develop user libraries to control hardware, and create documentation.
• Understand, debug, and fix issues spanning software and PCB hardware layers.
• Code primarily in C, C++, and Python under Linux for microcontrollers and computing modules interfacing with custom hardware.
• Collaborate with globally located engineers in the design and development of next-generation memory testers.
• Support existing equipment.
• Develop/Debug in C/C++ for embedded environments; Develop/Debug in C++ and Python for hardware interface environment.
• Use lab equipment for design bring-up, characterization, and testing.
• Communicate effectively in writing and speaking; create technical documents.
• Integrate AI-assisted tools to improve efficiency, quality, and compliance with standards and legal requirements.

As an Embedded Software Engineer in the Systems Integration Group (SIG), you will help create software for internal equipment used across Assembly & Test organization in one of the world’s largest semiconductor companies. Working in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment you will work with a global team creating software for a variety of internal equipment. We are looking for engineers who are hands-on, self‑motivated, excited to learn, and grow individually and as a team.

You will create software that interfaces to various hardware in bare metal, and Linux environments. You will work with other software engineers and other engineering disciplines to create and support this custom equipment from the ground up.

Responsibilities:

• Working in cross-disciplinary design teams involving software, electrical, controls, and mechanical engineers designing new equipment to meet customer needs.
• Developing embedded and interface software, providing input to schematic design, reviewing PCB layouts, prototyping circuits, debugging analog and digital hardware, automating testing, developing user libraries to control hardware, and creating documentation.
• Desire to understand, debug, and fix issues spanning layers of software, and PCB hardware.
• Coding primarily in C, C++, and Python under Linux for various microcontrollers and computing modules acting as the interface to custom hardware.
• Work closely with globally located software, electrical, mechanical, and control engineers in the design and development of next-generation memory testers
• Supporting existing equipment
• Develop/Debug in C/C++ for embedded environments
• Develop/Debug in C++ and Python for the hardware interface environment
• Use of lab equipment for design bring-up, characterization and testing
• Communication – written, spoken, creating technical documents
• Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, and effectiveness while exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within the scope of work.

Minimum Qualifications

• C, C++ proficiency
• Python familiarity
