Job summary

Bechtel is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer in Chennai to lead electrical works in medium to large EPC projects. You will coordinate with multiple disciplines, ensure compliance with various national and international codes, and oversee design deliverables, schedules, and quality across project teams.

Candidates should have 12+ years in electrical engineering, strong knowledge of power systems, and familiarity with Indian, US, and European standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years experience in electrical engineering.
• Exposure to Indian, US, Euro and other codes/standards.
• Site experience will be an added advantage.

• Power Distribution Design, Developing single line diagram, Metering and protection diagram, Protection Philosophy.
• Developing guiding Principles of equipment sizing and selection (Transformers, Switchgears, Generator Circuit Breaker).
• Reviews and checks the work of subordinate engineers and provides input for their performance evaluation.
• Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

Job Summary:

Electrical Engineer experience on basic and detailed design and project co-ordination of Electrical works on Electrical Systems Engineering. Should have executed at least two, medium to large size EPC projects, as Electrical Lead / Engineering Group Supervisor in an engineering office or consultancy of repute. Has a good knowledge of Electrical System and Physical design, the principles, and practices of related technical areas and of coordinating with other technical disciplines. Candidate should have exposure to Indian, US, Euro and other foreign codes/standards and local practices.

Major Responsibilities:

• Power Distribution Design, Developing single line diagram, Metering and protection diagram, Protection Philosophy.
• Developing guiding Principles of equipment sizing and selection (Transformers (Power, Distribution and generator step up, Unit Aux transformers), Switchgears, Generator Circuit Breaker)
• Reviews and checks work of subordinate engineers and provide input for their performance evaluation.
• Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

Education and Experience Requirements:

A recognized bachelor s/master s degree in electrical engineering, from an accredited college or university with an overall experience of minimum 12 years.

Site experience will be an added advantage.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Possess a broad understanding of the major design engineering deliverables.
• Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of engineering work in a project or staff group.
• Knowledge of power generation, Generator capability, Excitation and Governor models, concept pf plant Energization and operating conditions (black start, island etc.)
• Reviewing/ developing Logics, schematics for protection, key interlocks and synchronization.
• System studies (Load Flow, Short Circuit, Transient, Motor Starting, Harmonic studies etc.)
• Protection device coordination (Relays, Breakers, Fuses) and Arc flash analysis.
• Knowledge of power generating switchyards/ substation along with Utility Interfaces.
• Coordinates engineering effort in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, and contractors and between other groups.
• Understanding of engineering planning and control methods including computerized methods.
• Understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including basic construction practices and the economics involved.
• Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the engineering discipline.
• Skill in oral and written communication and writing technical reports.
