Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking an experienced Fire Detection System engineer to support pre-sales and estimation for global projects in Pune. You will prepare BOMs, cost sheets and ensure bids align with country standards while maintaining project quality.

Responsibilities include reviewing inputs, drawings, and specifications, coordinating with procurement and vendors, and delivering on-time, cost-efficient solutions with strong communication and leadership.

Qualifications

• BE (Instrumentation / Electrical / Electronics / Electronics & Communications).
• Strong knowledge of Fire Detection System (Fire Alarm, VESDA, Linear Heat Detection, Fireman Intercom, Detection part of Gas Suppression System, Gas Detection etc)
• Knowledge on Simplex & Zettler fire alarm product along with Xtralis, Securiton & Wagner product for Aspirating Smoke Detection system
• Simplex & VESDA certifications will have added advantage
• Expertise in Fire Alarm Code and Guidelines. Should be familiar with local code requirement for Singapore, Hong Kong & Malaysia region.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.), Blue Beam
• Knowledge of different types of network protocols like BACNet, Modbus, and other protocols.
• Should have good experience for subcon/vendor engagement keeping close
• Coordination with procurement
• Must be a quick learner, team player & should have a keen eye for problem solving.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication.
• Ability to demonstrate good leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Support pre-sales engineering for Fire Detection System global projects per country standards.
• Estimate BOM costs and prepare costing sheets to come up with competitive bid.
• Review project inputs and specifications; capture scope and complete requirements.
• Review MEP drawings, specification, SOP and identify equipment related to Fire Detection System.
• Preparation and participation for project kickoff / review meetings with technical queries, compliance / deviations log, risk logs and record minutes.
• Adherence to standard estimation process and guideline to select proper hardware, software, equipment, materials and services.
• Creation of bill of material, selection of Fire Alarm Panels, Controllers, Field Devices, Software Identification, Network connection, Cable Type and Length Calculations.
• Preparation of Costing Sheet including Preliminaries and other costs, Cost comparison charts, Checklist, Technical Write-up, Block Diagram, Deviation Chart
• Ensure quality assurance, defect free deliverables, on time deliveries and customer satisfaction.
• Escalate issues in the right time, with evidence for scope-creep.
• Keep operational parameters at desired level for all assigned projects.
• Ensure timesheet compliance and reporting for project progress.
• Weekly/Monthly customer reporting for project progress.
• Active participation in organization employee engagement initiatives

What you will do

The primary responsibility for this role is to support pre-sales engineering for Fire Detection System global projects as per country specific standards. Follow processes, maintain required quality standards and on time deliveries to ensure customer satisfaction.

• Review project inputs and specifications; should be able to capture the scope and understand the complete requirements of the project.

• Review MEP drawings, specification, SOP and identify equipment related to Fire Detection System (Fire Alarm, VESDA, Linear Heat Detection, Fireman Intercom, Detection part of Gas Suppression System, Gas Detection etc)

• Preparation of Costing Sheet including Preliminaries and other costs, Cost comparison charts, Checklist, Technical Write-up, Block Diagram, Deviation Chart etc.
