Senior Data Engineer – Healthcare Data (Veradigm)
Overview
Veradigm is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support the design, development, and optimization of healthcare data solutions that power analytics, reporting, and client deliverables. This role is critical in enabling scalable, compliant, and high-quality data pipelines across clinical, claims, and operational datasets.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in healthcare data ecosystems, strong technical expertise in Azure-based data platforms, and a proven ability to partner with cross-functional teams to deliver client-focused solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintainscalable ETL/ELT pipelinessupporting healthcare data ingestion, transformation, and delivery
- Sources may includeclaims, EHR/EMR, eligibility, pharmacy, and third-party datasets
- Develop and maintainSQL Server stored procedures that drive core data transformation logic across client-specific and standardized pipelines
- Implement complex transformation logic usingT-SQL, including mapping, validation, aggregation, and data standardization
- Optimize performance ofSQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL processesto ensure efficient large-scale data processing
- Develop and optimize data solutions withinAzure (Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake, SQL, Databricks)
- Lead efforts indata onboarding and implementation, ensuring timely and accurate client data integration
- Partner closely withProfessional Services, Product, DevOps, and Analytics teamsto gather requirements and deliver data solutions
- Ensuredata quality, integrity, and validation, including reconciliation and audit processes for healthcare datasets
- Implement and maintaindata governance and compliance standards, including HIPAA and PHI handling requirements
- Design and documentdata models, mappings, and transformation logicfor standardized and reusable data assets
- Support troubleshooting and resolution ofdata pipeline failures, performance issues, and client-impacting defects
- Contribute toprocess improvement initiativesto streamline onboarding, reduce implementation timelines, and enhance data reliability
- Mentor junior team members and promotebest practices in data engineering and documentation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience indata engineering, preferably withinhealthcare or regulated data environments
- Strong proficiency inSQL and T-SQL, with hands-on experience building complex stored procedures and data transformations
- Experience withSQL Server performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies
- Strong Python (or similar programming language) skills
- Hands-on experience withAzure data services(e.g., Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, Blob Storage/Data Lake)
- Experience designing and managingETL/ELT workflows and data pipelines
- Solid understanding ofhealthcare data structures(claims, encounters, provider, member, etc.)
- Experience withdata warehousing and modeling(star schema, dimensional modeling)
- Familiarity withDevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (Git)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience withhealthcare analytics domains such as Risk Adjustment, Quality Measures, or Value-Based Care
- Knowledge ofFHIR, HL7, or other healthcare interoperability standards
- Experience withbig data frameworks(e.g., Spark, Databricks)
- Exposure toPower BI or other BI/visualization tools
- Experience supportingclient-facing implementations or onboarding projects
