Job summary

Southwest Airlines is seeking a Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer to design, build, and operate production-grade DevSecOps capabilities across large-scale platforms. You will apply deep experience with Git-based pipelines, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and security practices to improve reliability and developer productivity.

Qualifications

• Experience with cloud automation and DevOps practices.
• Hands-on with CI/CD and automation tools.
• Ability to deploy and manage SDLC automation and release management.
• Understanding of cloud architectures and security practices.
• Experience leading cloud infrastructure design and evolution.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate cloud services and architecture to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
• Implement automation tools and frameworks for automatic code deployment (CI/CD).
• Work with the development team to deploy and manage tools that support SDLC automation, configuration management, and release management.
• Understand technical architectures with automation to support complex delivery across a wide range of digital and enterprise applications.
• Lead the design, development, and evolution of cloud infrastructure.
• Establish and/or follow procedures and standards to ensure high quality and quantity of work.
• Establish or follow prioritization processes to drive work with urgency about getting work completed.

Job Summary

• Southwest’s DevOps Tooling & Pipelines Pod operates the shared platforms behind the enterprise software supply chain. The team supports secure, reliable delivery through Nexus Repository, SonarQube, Amazon ECR, cloud-native platform engineering, CI/CD automation, and developer self-service capabilities used across the technology organization.
• As Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer, you’ll design, build, and operate production-grade DevSecOps capabilities that improve both security and developer productivity. You’ll apply deep experience with Git-based pipelines, AWS cloud engineering, Docker and Kubernetes or ECS, Terraform or CloudFormation, and security practices such as SAST, DAST, SCA, secrets management, vulnerability management, and RBAC. You’ll also solve reliability, observability, performance, high-availability, and disaster-recovery challenges across large-scale engineering platforms.
• Focus on designing and building enterprise cloud infrastructure automation, pipelines, and cloud capabilities for services on AWS. Partner with application, security, and architecture teams to build re-usable and secure cloud infrastructure to be used by business applications. Operate in a DevOps culture and team, responsible for architecture, design, development, implementation, and ongoing operations of new and emerging technology platforms.
