Job summary

ABB Motion Services in Bengaluru, India, is seeking a senior Azure Cloud Architect to lead the end-to-end cloud architecture for Powertrain solutions. You will guide data platform design, security, governance, and compliance, while driving modernization and hybrid integration with customers and third parties.

You will mentor engineers and collaborate with DevOps, security, and solution teams to ensure scalable, resilient systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Extensive experience in Azure cloud architecture and enterprise solutions.
• Strong DevOps, security, governance and compliance knowledge.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and collaboration with global teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and govern the Azure data platform architecture (ingestion, streaming, storage, processing, serving) to support analytics and IoT workloads.
• Own end-to-end Azure cloud architecture for Powertrain enterprise solutions, ensuring security and compliance.
• Drive cloud adoption, migration and modernization, including legacy-to-cloud transformations.
• Integrate Azure solutions with customer systems and third-party platforms with secure hybrid connectivity.
• Collaborate with solution architects, DevOps, security and tech leads for architectural alignment.
• Provide guidance on non-functional requirements like scalability, performance, availability, resilience, DR, and cost optimization.
• Champion DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code using Azure DevOps/GitHub, Bicep or Terraform.
• Mentor and coach senior engineers and team leads to raise cloud engineering practices.

You will also showcase your expertise by supporting strategic corporate technology management and future product/software/solution architecture.The work model for the role is: #LI-HybridThis role is contributing to the Motion Business Service Division in Bangalore India.You will be mainly accountable for:Define and govern the Azure data platform architecture (ingestion, streaming, storage, processing, and serving layers), including data modeling, data quality, lineage, and lifecycle management to support analytics and IoT workloads.Own the end-to-end Azure cloud architecture for Powertrain enterprise solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives, security standards, and compliance requirements.Drive cloud adoption, migration, and modernization initiatives, including transformation of legacy platforms to cloud‑native and microservices-based architectures.Drive integration of Azure solutions with customer systems and third‑party platforms, ensuring secure and scalable hybrid connectivity.Collaborate closely with solution architect, DevOps, security, and technical team leads to ensure architectural alignment and consistency across product boundaries.Provide architectural guidance on non‑functional requirements including scalability, performance, availability, resilience, disaster recovery, and cost optimization (FinOps).Champion DevOps and Infrastructure‑as‑Code practices using Azure DevOps / GitHub and, Bicep, or Terraform to enable repeatable and reliable deployments.Act as a role model and take responsibility for mentoring and coaching senior engineers and technical team leads, strengthening cloud engineering practices and enterprise-level architectural thinking across teams.Qualifications for the role:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 15–20 years of IT experience, including 5–6+ years in Azure Cloud / Solution ArchitectureStrong experience designing enterprise-scale Azure solutions across compute, network, storage, data, and integrationExperience in data platform architecture on Azure (e.g., Azure delta lake, Azure Data Factory, Databricks / Spark, Synapse / SQL, Stream Analytics, Event Hubs / Kafka patterns, Azure Fabric, ML flow, Azure Machine Learning, Azure AI Foundry ) and applying data governance concepts (catalog, RBAC, encryption, retention).Hands-on expertise with Azure services: IoT Hub, Cosmos DB, Redis, Event Hubs, Service Bus, API Management, App Gateway, Key Vault, App Configuration, Notification Hubs, SendGrid, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure networkingStrong knowledge of large-scale, complex, distributed Azure, microservices architecture and cloud-native design patterns with hands-on .NET / C#, Typescript and Python development experience.Deep understanding of security, identity, governance, and compliance in Azure.
