American Express is seeking an Associate Project Manager to join the GRC Products and Capabilities team in Gurgaon. This role focuses on driving project delivery, coordinating with engineers, product managers and vendors, and providing status updates to leadership in a fast-paced risk management environment.

The role emphasizes Agile/SAFe delivery, strong time management, and the ability to manage multiple work streams in a dynamic setting within Global Risk & Compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Business Admin/Management, Information Systems, or related field.
• PM experience; Agile/SAFe delivery experience preferred.
• Excellent time management with ability to manage multiple projects.
• Ability to work with Engineers, Product Managers and Vendors to achieve goals.

Responsibilities

• Drives execution on defined projects in low to medium complexity environments.
• Develops project plans and ensures stakeholders understand scope.

The Global Risk & Compliance (GRC) Organization is an independent risk management function, led by the Chief Risk Officer, with the objective of ensuring that American Express operates in a safe, sound, and fully compliant manner with all applicable regulatory expectations. Global Risk & Compliance creates and maintains the overall risk management framework, performs independent risk management assessments, and monitors applicable risks. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Associate Project Manager to join the GRC Products and Capabilities team in GRC. The GRC Platforms and Capabilities is responsible for the strategy, design and implementation of large-scale platforms and associated centers of excellence to empower risk management teams in GRC and the Company to effectively manage risk. Several of these projects are categorized as Big Bets and are pivotal to the Company's success. They represent significant opportunities for growth and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Drives execution on defined projects or tasks in low to medium-complexity environments
• Develops project plans and ensures that the scope and approach are fully understood by all stakeholders
• Monitors and communicates progress of project delivery by cost, scope, schedule and including the assessment of risks/issues
• Identifies the project critical path and closely manage those activities
• Identifies inter-team and external technical dependencies
• Facilitates technical conversations (e.g., relating to architectural approach and system design)
• Works within and across team(s) to track status of risks, issues and impediments to the project delivery and elevate accordingly
• Provides and consolidates inputs for leadership updates on delivery status and key decisions needed to support project delivery
• Take meeting minutes and drive any actions assigned
• Tracks key project achievements and any lessons learned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business Management/Administration, Information Systems Technology or related field
• Experience in project/program management; experience in Agile/SAFe delivery environments strongly preferred.
• Excellent time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects
• Ability to work with Engineers, Product Managers and Vendors to achieve project goals

• Ability to facilitate meetings and discussions of any technical challenges and systems design
• Ability to collaborate across teams and bring different opinions to consensus
• Ability to maintain a high attention to detail in a deadline-driven work environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging cross-functional stakeholders and business partners
• Understanding of project management process, project management software tools, templates, and management techniques
• Experience in risk management disciplines-good to have
• Strong strategic thinker with the ability to prioritize tasks and drive results across various initiatives
• Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to multi-task and manage multiple work-streams
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly in an environment with evolving business demands
• Excellent relationship and influence management skills with the ability to build productive relationships across teams and levels of seniority
• Self-confident with a strong sense of integrity and the ability and willingness to challenge and be challenged
• Confident with the ability to challenge the status quo and drive innovation - articulate point of view with a rationale and be able to defend it
• Proven ability to build collaborative, trusting cross-functional relationships across diverse set of stakeholders
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with comfort with data-driven decision making
