Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior PL/SQL Developer with 10+ years of experience in Postgres/Oracle database development, preferably in the banking or financial services domain. The role requires strong expertise in PL/SQL programming, SQL performance tuning, data processing, and support for enterprise-grade transactional systems. The candidate should be capable of working on complex banking applications, understanding business-critical data flows, and delivering stable, high-performance database solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain complex Postgres PL/SQL objects including packages, procedures, functions, triggers, views, and cursors.
- Work on core banking, payments, settlements, reconciliation, accounting, regulatory reporting, or similar banking systems.
- Analyze business and functional requirements and translate them into efficient database solutions.
- Optimize SQL queries and PL/SQL code for high-volume transactional systems.
- Perform data analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause investigation for production issues.
- Support batch processing, end-of-day processing, reconciliations, and reporting workflows.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, security, and compliance across banking applications.
- Collaborate with business analysts, application developers, QA teams, and production support teams.
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and release planning activities.
- Lead defect fixes, performance improvements, and production deployment support.
- Mentor junior developers and guide the team on coding standards and best practices.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, impact assessments, and deployment documents.
Skills And Experience
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in SQL and PL/SQL development.
- Strong experience in the banking or financial services domain.
- Proven expertise in developing complex PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and bulk processing logic.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis.
- Experience in handling large-volume transactional data and mission-critical production systems.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, normalization, referential integrity, and database design principles.
- Experience with exception handling, debugging, code migration, and release support.
- Ability to work on production incidents, defect analysis, and root cause resolution.
- Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux shell scripting and job scheduling concepts.
- Experience with tools such as ADO, TOAD, OEM, Git, Jira, and deployment tools.
- Good understanding of SDLC, change management, and audit/compliance requirements in banking environments.
Banking Domain Experience Required
Candidate should have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Core banking
- Payments and settlements
- Cards and transaction processing
- Reconciliation systems
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to ETL and reporting systems.
- Familiarity with SWIFT, ISO 8583, ISO 20022, or other financial messaging standards.
- Experience working in high-availability and disaster recovery environments.
- Exposure to Agile, Scrum, or DevOps delivery models.
- Knowledge of data security, encryption, and access control in financial systems.
Leadership Expectations
- Ability to lead technical discussions and provide solution guidance.
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers.
- Review code for quality, performance, and maintainability.
- Coordinate with stakeholders across business, development, QA, and production support.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
