Job summary

Nationwide Mutual Insurance is seeking a Quality Engineer in Hyderabad to help establish QA capability for Guidewire InsuranceNow and end-to-end workflows. You will contribute to automation, API validation, and comprehensive testing practices, while leveraging AI-assisted ideas for smarter test design.

Two years of related experience in software delivery and testing in agile environments is preferred. Reporting to the Technology Leader – India with hybrid work flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate studies in computer science, MIS or related field preferred.
  • Two years of software delivery/test experience in an agile context.
  • Familiarity with test automation and tool support across a tech stack.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out procedures to ensure information systems meet standards and end-user requirements.
  • Analyze requirements, user stories, and technical work products.
  • Apply secure engineering practices to protect data and solutions.
  • Design and create automation using appropriate quality tools.
  • Validate test results, document defects, and support release testing.

We are looking for an individual contributor Quality Engineer to support ESS teams working on Guidewire InsuranceNow by helping establish foundational QA capability across application changes, integrations, and end-to-end business workflows, while also supporting the broader build-out of Guidewire InsuranceNow delivery teams through modern testing practices and quality engineering suppo

  • Build and maintain test automation using Playwright and TypeScript.
  • Use Postman and similar tools to support API validation and workflow testing.
  • Contribute across risk-based testing, automation, test data and environment needs, and continuous improvement.
  • Use AI-assisted tools selectively to improve test design and coverage ideas.

Learn new tools, technologies, and domain knowledge quickly and apply them effectively in day-to-day work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under guidance, carries out procedures to ensure all information systems products and services meet organization standards and end-user requirements.
  • Analyses and reviews requirements, user stories and technical work products.
  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Uses the appropriate quality engineering tools to design and create the automation needed.
  • Validates basic test results, records and researches defects.
  • With guidance leverages appropriate test engineering and automation tools and techniques for each technology domain and application.
  • Assists in the identification of means to deliver more effective and efficient testing, without compromising quality.
  • Executes basic to moderate release testing and backs out testing when needed.
  • Identifies, documents, and reports several release test results.
  • Addresses defects found in release testing and works with the appropriate team members to resolve open testing issues or testing questions.
  • Aligns with the Nationwide automated testing reference architecture.
  • Complies with release management process governance and timelines throughout the release.
  • Additional responsibilities may include collaboration across teams and adherence to company standards.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience
Education

Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or a related field is preferred.

License/Certification/Designation

Technology certifications including TOSCA Automated Specialist 1 (AS1), TOSCA Automated Specialist 2 (AS2), or other related designations are preferred.

Experience

Two years of related experience with software delivery or educational experience within a technology domain. Demonstrated experience in testing for agile teams including planning, test plan creation, maintenance and execution. Understanding of test automation and optimization throughout a stack and the tools to support.
