Job summary

Northern Trust in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced professional for a Global fund administration role focused on FX middle office and back-office operations. The role requires handling cash flow, FX settlements, and trade matching with emphasis on accuracy and client service.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in financial services, familiarity with FX markets, SWIFT connectivity, and strong analytical skills. Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance is preferred; advanced degrees are a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Financial Services, preferably FX Middle Office or Operations.
• Experience with Hedge Funds, Investment Management and/or Financial Services strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a quantitative discipline; Master's would be an advantage.
• Business exposure to Equity or Credit or complex derivatives (CDS, IRS, TRS & OTC).

Responsibilities

• Manage daily cash flow processing and AML checks; ensure approvals and postings.
• Process and settle FX transactions (spot/forwards) for clients.
• Resolve cash breaks and wire payment issues with clients.
• Oversee FX exposure offerings and support clients.
• Perform trade matching/affirmation for FX trades on trade date.
• Communicate discrepancies to internal partners and resolve mismatches.
• Support development of scalable, controlled cash processing workflows for FX activity.
• Coordinate connectivity with banks, custodians, and prime brokers via SWIFT.

Role

The job involves working for a Global fund administrator, specializing in administering assets of complex hedge funds. The position requires good experience and background in operations including familiarity with foreign exchange markets, back office settlements and cash functions. This person is proactive in resolving conflict and demonstrates exemplary follow-through. He/she adds value by working on a number of simultaneous tasks/projects with minimal supervision while paying special attention to detail. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator and works well with partner areas. Familiarity with SWIFT and FX markets, products and settlements is extremely beneficial.

Major DuTIES

• Manage the daily processing of cash flow requests by clients. This includes: Ensuring proper AML checks have been performed on the instruction, ensuring all required approvals have occurred, executing payments per authorized instruction, confirming payments have been made, posting all cash related transactions as instructed by the client and assisting in the resolution of any issues related to payments made on behalf of clients.
• Manage the daily processing and settlement of FX transactions (spot, forwards, options) for clients.
• Work with clients to resolve cash breaks and issues related to wire payments.
• Oversee the FX Exposure offering and provide support to clients
• Perform trade matching and affirmation for FX trades on trade date between the client and its counterparties.
• Communicate trade discrepancies to internal partners and assist in resolving mismatches between the client and its counterparties.
• Assist in the development of a scalable, controlled and transparent cash processing work flow for all FX activity
• Effectively communicate with IT to test and implement development and enhancements of our FX offering.
• Coordinate connectivity with client's banks, custodians and prime brokers through SWIFT
• Administer account implementation process and effectively communicate status to internal partners.
• Escalate issues and signoff on daily process requirements.
