Job description

About the Role Senior FP&A Analyst supporting the Technology/R&D organization in Bangalore.

The role exists to strengthen the financial operating model behind engineering investment, workforce planning, capitalization discipline, productivity, and technology cost structure. You will work closely with the Sr. Director, Engineering FP&A; the U.S.-based Engineering FP&A Manager; Engineering leadership; Product & Professional Services FP&A; Accounting; HR; Procurement; and Corporate FP&A. The focus is on turning engineering activity, capacity, and cost drivers into reliable models, reporting, and business insight. This is an embedded role within the function, not a generic shared-services position. It is suited to someone who is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across workforce data, engineering spend, capitalization inputs, contractor and vendor analysis, and cloud/tooling costs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate, timely, and well-documented forecast inputs for review and consolidation by Engineering FP&A and Corporate FP&A.
  • Support R&D capitalization and OpEx/CapEx analysis by organizing inputs, tracking activity, maintaining schedules, and partnering with Accounting/CAO under FP&A leadership guidance.
  • Analyze cloud, tooling, vendor, contractor, and technology infrastructure spend tied to engineering productivity and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain reporting on R&D spend as a percentage of revenue, cost by product/platform/initiative, capitalized versus expensed development, innovation versus maintenance capacity, and location mix.
  • Support vendor rationalization, contractor mix, location strategy, and build-versus-buy analysis through clean datasets, trend analysis, comparisons, and scenario outputs.
  • Create and maintain repeatable reports, dashboards, and analysis packs that improve visibility into engineering investment, capacity, productivity, and trade-offs.
  • Ensure outputs are accurate, traceable, clearly documented, and aligned with FP&A definitions, KPI standards, model architecture, and version-control expectations.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and improve recurring reporting and analysis using planning tools, BI tools, and analytical automation.
  • Maintain strong data hygiene across headcount, vendor, contractor, capitalization, cloud/ tooling, and cost-center inputs.
  • Build fluency in Engineering/R&D operations and the product/platform investment model while working across U.S. and India time zones.
Required Skills
  • BCom or MBA.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in finance, FP&A, business finance, investment banking, corporate finance, consulting, analytics, or a related field.
  • Strong financial modeling, Excel, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of workforce planning, scenario analysis, variance analysis, cost-center reporting, vendor analytics, and productivity metrics.
  • Comfort working with planning systems, BI tools, ERP/financial systems, and large datasets.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation habits, and the ability to produce accurate, timely, and explainable work.
  • Clear communication skills for both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Hands-on ownership, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to question assumptions.
  • Curiosity about automation and AI-enabled analytical improvements.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience supporting Engineering, Technology, Product, R&D, SaaS, enterprise software, healthcare technology, or similarly complex operating environments.
  • Experience with workforce planning, headcount modeling, variance analysis, forecast support, vendor/contractor spend analysis, or management reporting.
  • Exposure to PE-backed, high-growth, scaling, multi-product, or operationally complex businesses.
  • Familiarity with R&D capitalization, OpEx/CapEx concepts, cloud/tooling cost analysis, and technology cost structures.
