Job summary

Keylent Inc. is seeking an experienced SQL Server DBA to manage and optimize on-premises and cloud databases in Hyderabad. The role covers performance tuning, HA/DR planning, backups, and security with strong automation using PowerShell and Azure CLI.

You will work across teams to resolve database issues, support migrations to Azure, and contribute to modernization and cloud adoption efforts. The ideal candidate brings deep SQL Server and Azure expertise and solid problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on MS SQL Server DBA experience.
• Strong SQL performance tuning and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of Always On AG, HA/DR, backup and recovery.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
• SQL Server migrations to Azure and hybrid environments.
• Proficient in T-SQL, indexing, execution plans, blocking, and deadlocks.
• PowerShell and/or Azure CLI for automation.
• Strong incident management and RCA experience.
• Understanding of security, permissions, monitoring, and auditing.
• Good communication and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Perform SQL Server administration, installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and maintenance.
• Monitor and optimize SQL Server performance including queries, indexing, blocking, deadlocks, and resource usage.
• Implement HA/DR solutions, including Always On Availability Groups.
• Manage backups and recovery strategies, including validation and restores.
• Administer Azure SQL DB and Azure MI environments.
• Support SQL Server migrations to Azure and hybrid environments.
• Troubleshoot production database issues and perform RCA for incidents.
• Develop automation using PowerShell and Azure CLI.
• Monitor database health, availability, capacity, and performance.
• Implement database security, access controls, and auditing.
• Collaborate with application, infra, cloud, and dev teams to resolve issues.
• Participate in database modernization, migration, and cloud adoption initiatives.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform SQL Server administration, installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and maintenance.
• Monitor and optimize SQL Server performance, including query tuning, indexing, blocking, deadlocks, and resource utilization.
• Implement and manage High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) solutions, including Always On Availability Groups.
• Manage backup and recovery strategies, including backup validation and database restoration.
• Administer Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance (MI) environments.
• Support SQL Server to Azure migrations and hybrid on-premises/Azure database environments.
• Troubleshoot production database issues and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for incidents.
• Develop and maintain automation using PowerShell and Azure CLI.
• Monitor database health, availability, capacity, and performance across production environments.
• Implement database security, access controls, permissions, and auditing in line with organizational standards.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, cloud, and development teams to resolve database-related issues.
• Participate in database modernization, migration, and cloud adoption initiatives.

Required Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server DBA activities.
• Expertise in SQL Server performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of Always On Availability Groups, HA/DR, backup and recovery.
• Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
• Experience with SQL Server migration to Azure and hybrid database environments.
• Good knowledge of T-SQL, indexing, execution plans, blocking, deadlocks, and query optimization.
• Experience with PowerShell and/or Azure CLI for database administration and automation.
• Strong production support, incident management, and RCA experience.
• Knowledge of database security, permissions, monitoring, and auditing.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Azure Database Migration Service (DMS).
• Knowledge of Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Azure Automation.
• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with database monitoring and automation tools.
• Exposure to Microsoft Fabric / modern data platform technologies is an advantage.
