MSCI in Pune, India seeks a Database Operations Specialist to support installation, configuration, monitoring, backups, and security of SQL Server databases. You will collaborate with DBA, application development, and SRE teams to ensure high availability and performance across production systems.

The role emphasizes working with DataDog, SCOM, and Snow tools, delivering reliable database services, and participating in 24/7 support while staying aligned with MSCI standards.

Competenze

• Knowledge of SQL script and MS SQL Server database technology.
• Understanding of database concepts such as tables, indexes, queries and relationships.
• Familiarity with database management tools and basic admin tasks like backups, restores and monitoring.
• OS knowledge (Windows and Linux).
• DevOps Pipeline knowledge mandatory.
• 5+ years experience in cloud technologies preferable.

Overview

• Database installation and Configurations: Setting up and configuring SQL Server databases including hardware and software requirements, initial database setup and environment optimization based on existing instances and new business needs
• Performance Monitoring and Tuning: Continuously monitoring system health, and analyzing performance bottlenecks, suggesting query improvements, and optimizing indexing and high availability and responsiveness
• Backup and Recovery: Designing, implementing, and regularly testing backup and disaster recovery strategies to protect data integrity and minimize downtime
• Security and Access Management: Managing user access, permissions, and authentication; enforcing security policies, implementing encryption and ensuring compliance and regulatory standards
• Database Maintenance: Applying patches and upgrades, performing scheduled maintenance, and supporting release deployment to keep system secure and up to date
• Incident and Problem Management: Troubleshooting and resolving database issues, supporting incident responses, and providing 24/7 support for critical production system
• Collab and support: Assisting developers with query tuning and database design; supporting end users and business projects
• Planning for Growth: Assessing capacity needs, planning for future expansion and recommending upgrades and changes
