Job summary

HCLTech Lucknow is seeking a MSSQL Database Administrator with 6–12 years of experience to manage enterprise SQL Server environments on Azure IaaS. The role requires hands-on expertise in installation, upgrades, HA/DR, tuning, security, and proactive health monitoring in an on-site Lucknow setting.

You will work with Windows Server platforms, SQL Server Agent, and disaster recovery tools while ensuring performance and reliability in enterprise production databases.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration.
• Expertise in SQL Server installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, migrations, and version management.
• Hands-on experience administering SQL Server on Azure IaaS (Azure Virtual Machines).
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server Backup, Restore, Recovery Models, and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies.
• Experience implementing and supporting High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, SQL Server Failover Cluster Instances (FCI), WSFC, Log Shipping, and SQL Server Replication.
• Expertise in database performance monitoring, performance tuning, query execution plan analysis, index optimization, and database maintenance.
• Strong understanding of SQL Server security, including authentication, authorization, encryption (TDE), user access management, and auditing.
• Hands-on experience performing database integrity checks using DBCC CHECKDB and proactive health monitoring.
• Experience troubleshooting production database issues related to performance, blocking, deadlocks, CPU, memory, storage, and connectivity.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server Agent, Maintenance Plans, capacity planning, and proactive database monitoring.
• Good understanding of Windows Server environments supporting SQL Server deployments.
• Experience with Azure Virtual Machines, Managed Disks, Availability Sets, Availability Zones, Azure Backup, and Azure Monitor.
• Knowledge of PowerShell scripting for SQL Server administration and automation is preferred.
• Experience working in enterprise production environments with Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
