Job summary

Zensar Technologies in Pune seeks an experienced SQL Server Database Engineer to design, optimize, and modernize enterprise SQL Server environments. You will tackle performance bottlenecks, tune queries, and drive high-availability initiatives.

With 7+ years in SQL Server development/engineering, you will lead tuning, replication, HA/DR, and Azure SQL modernization while mentoring teams and documenting best practices.

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on SQL Server DB engineering/development.
• Advanced T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, indexing, and data modeling.
• Experience with performance tuning, execution plans, and Query Store.
• HA/DR, backup/restore, replication, SQL Agent, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize complex T-SQL objects, procedures, views, and indexes.
• Analyze execution plans, memory grants, blocking, and tempdb usage to resolve bottlenecks.
• Tune high-volume workloads and support SQL Server upgrades and testing.
• Drive HA/DR, replication, and cloud migration initiatives; mentor team members.

Are you passionate about solving complex database performance challenges and optimizing large-scale transactional systems? Join our team and play a key role in designing, tuning, and modernizing enterprise SQL Server environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize complex T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, views, indexes, and database objects
• Analyze execution plans, Query Store, blocking, waits, memory grants, parallelism, CPU, I/O, tempdb usage, and transaction logs to resolve performance bottlenecks
• Tune high-volume transactional, compliance, reporting, and batch-processing workloads
• Design scalable database architectures, data models, indexing strategies, and replication solutions
• Support SQL Server upgrades, performance testing, regression validation, and production troubleshooting
• Manage High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), replication, backup/restore, monitoring, and maintenance operations
• Collaborate with Application, QA, SRE, Infrastructure, and Vendor teams to resolve production incidents
• Drive modernization initiatives involving Azure SQL, cloud migration, and data platform transformation
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, design reviews, mentoring, and documentation
