Job summary

Atlas Copco Holding GmbH in Pune is seeking a SQA Engineer to drive supplier development and QA activities. You will audit suppliers, support QA and Manufacturing on line quality, and assist NPD/re-sourcing with tooling to ensure first-time-right parts for assembly.

Requirements include a Mechanical Engineer degree, 5-7 years in supplier QA, and familiarity with IMS/PPAP and related quality tools. Willingness to travel up to 80% is expected.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineer degree with GD&T knowledge.
  • 5-7 years in supplier development and supplier quality assurance.
  • Automotive sector experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with IMS, APQP, 7QC tools, MSA, SPC, 5S, FMEA, 8D, PPAP; safety.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and audit suppliers to drive improvement and ensure compliance.
  • Support QA and Manufacturing to resolve line quality issues using 8D.
  • Support NPD and re-sourcing with tooling to ensure first-time-right parts.
  • Review specs to identify materials needed for assembly.
  • Coordinate with QA, Eng, Manufacturing, Buyers and vendors.
  • Conduct supplier audits and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Maintain supplier database with performance evaluations and PPAP.
  • Manage logistics and supplier communications for packaging and on-time delivery.
  • Travel up to 80% as required.

Job description

As a SQA Engineer, you will report to SQA Manager.

Main responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and select new suppliers through risk assessments and audits, drive supplier improvement initiatives, and conduct periodic audits of critical suppliers.
  • Support QA, Manufacturing team to address line quality issues for specific parts/commodities/suppliers and closing the quality issue by 8D methodology.
  • Support NPDs & Re-sourcing projects with all necessary tooling to meet first time right quality parts deliver
  • Review engineering and manufacturing specifications to identify materials needed for product assembly for all manufactured goods.
  • Contact vendors and liaise between Quality Assurance, Engineering, Manufacturing and Buyers and vendors.
  • Conduct supplier quality control audits on a regular basis to ensure vendors and their supplies remain in compliance with company and federal manufacturing and production standards.
  • Communicate with vendors regularly to address any concerns and foster an environment that facilitates continual improvement in working relationships.
  • Understand and interpret all manufacturing audits, including ISO 9001-2015, ISO 14001-2015, ISO 45001-2018 and other industry standards.
  • Maintain a supplier database and include performance evaluations and quality control audits in the database for in-house access by company and manufacturing management personnel. Timely completion of the development stages by approving PPAP.
  • Manage logistics and supplier communications for packaging and receiving issues, driving suppliers to meet PPM and on-time delivery targets. Evaluate the capabilities of proposed new suppliers in conjunction with key business stakeholders in the internal Supply Chain (local, regional, global) with the responsibility for approving or rejecting for use. Anticipate potential risks to the supply chain based on capacity, change in business profile, regulations, etc.
  • Undertake supplier visits, compiling visit reports upon completion, PPAP, documentation and developing process improvements to the internal supply chain, including better utilization of supplier systems. Regularly benchmark the existing supply base and challenge the competivenes of existing suppliers.
To succeed, you will need

Experience / Educational requirements.

  • Mechanical Engineer, with knowledge of GD&T (Geometrical Dimensions & Tolerances)
  • 5-7 years’ experience in Supplier development and supplier quality assurance or related fields.
  • Background in automotive sector is preferred though not mandatory.
  • Knowledge in IMS, Quality concept (APQP,7QC tools,MSA, SPC, 5S, FMEA, 8D,PPAP …), Safety
  • Experience in commodity such as heavy & small fabrication like frame ,Canopy, Pipe, Cutting,Bending,welding,painting, powder coating, plating processes ,Casting, Machining & Engine .
  • Sound Knowledge on Jig & Fixturing etc. Use of IT tools like ERP (BPCS), MS-Excel. Fluency in English is a must.
