Job summary

Mercor is seeking a data analyst/spreadsheet specialist to support an AI research project. You will use your MacBook to perform real data analysis and create high-quality training data for AI models.

The role is part-time, approximately 10-20 hours per week, with immediate start preferred. Ideal candidates have 2-3 years of experience or are currently enrolled in Masters studies in a quantitative field, strong Excel/Sheets skills, and familiarity with SQL or BI tools.

Qualifications

• Must own a MacBook or Mac with Apple M-series or Intel processor, running macOS 15+.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, Numbers, and/or Google Sheets (pivot tables, lookups, charts, data cleaning, financial or operational models)
• Experience with SQL, Python/R, or BI tools (Tableau, Power BI) is a plus
• Currently pursuing or recently completed Masters or 2-3 years of relevant experience + Bachelors from a prestigious institution
• Ability to clearly explain your reasoning while you work
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Complete and narrate real data analysis and spreadsheet tasks on your Mac to create high-quality training data for advanced AI models
• Provide structured, clearly explained analysis outputs with reproducible steps

You will work through real data analysis workflows on your own Mac to help benchmark and improve cutting-edge AI models.

Qualifications:

• Required: You must own a MacBook or Mac with an Apple M-series chip or Intel processor, running macOS 15 or higher. Applicants without a Mac cannot be considered.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel, Numbers, and/or Google Sheets (pivot tables, lookups, charts, data cleaning, financial or operational models)

• Experience with SQL, Python/R, or BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus
