Job summary

Kasiga School in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, invites a dynamic leader to head its sports and physical education programme. You will plan the annual calendar, coordinate inter-house and inter-school events, and mentor teams and individual athletes while working with boarding, pastoral, academic and medical teams to ensure student safety and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• 9–12 years of relevant experience in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the school's overall sports and physical education programme.
• Plan and manage the annual sports calendar and school events.
• Develop and mentor high‑performing student athletes and teams.
• Supervise PE teachers, coaches and support staff.
• Coordinate logistics for fixtures, tours and competitions.
• Ensure safety and welfare in line with safeguarding policies.
• Monitor performance and report to School Leadership.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Schools overall sports and physical education programme.
• Plan and manage the annual sports calendar, inter-house and inter-school competitions, tournaments and sports events.
• Develop and mentor high-performing sports teams and individual student athletes.
• Lead, supervise and develop PE teachers, coaches and sports support staff.
• Identify sporting talent and create appropriate development pathways for students.
• Oversee sports facilities, equipment, inventory and maintenance requirements.
• Manage sports-related budgets, resources and procurement.
• Coordinate fixtures, competitions, sports tours and related logistics.
• Work closely with the Boarding, Pastoral, Academic and Medical teams to ensure the safety, wellbeing and effective supervision of students.
• Promote sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, leadership, resilience and fair play.
• Ensure compliance with the Schools safeguarding, child protection, health and safety policies.
• Build strong relationships with other schools, sporting bodies, academies and external coaches.
• Monitor sporting performance and provide regular reports to the School Leadership
• Organize all the major sports events internal and external.

Preferred candidate profile

• Masters degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Sports Management or a related field.
• M.P.Ed. or equivalent qualification preferred.
• 9–12 years of relevant experience, including substantial experience in a school environment.
• Proven leadership experience in managing a sports department or large sports programme.
• Experience in a residential/boarding school will be an advantage.
