Our Technology Centers focus on creating a space where teams can come together to deliver business solutions that save and improve lives. An integral part of our company’s IT operating model, Tech Centers are globally distributed locations where each IT division has employees to enable our digital transformation journey and drive business outcomes. These locations, in addition to the other sites, are essential to supporting our business and strategy.

A focused group of leaders in each Tech Center helps to ensure we can manage and improve each location, from investing in growth, success, and well‑being of our people, to ensuring colleagues from each IT division feel a sense of belonging to managing critical emergencies. Role Overview

Decommission, Retire and Archive Center of Excellence (DRACOE) is the process and data governance organization for applications that are exiting or reducing data footprint in the production landscape. We provide global governance and archiving services across all divisions and geographies. The Active Data Management service focuses on helping Product Owners design and implement solutions for extracting data from production systems, storing it in near‑line storage, and enabling reporting and access to that extracted data in a controlled and compliant manner.

As a Data Architect, your primary responsibility will be to guide Product Owners, project teams, and technical stakeholders through the architecture, design, and implementation approach for active data management solutions. Your responsibilities include evaluating data extraction patterns, defining optimal storage strategies, aligning reporting needs, and addressing integration considerations while ensuring compliance with DRACOE standards, governance policies, security controls, and records retention requirements.

What will you do in this role

  • Collaborate with Product Owners, application teams, engineering teams, and DRACOE stakeholders to define and deliver active data management solutions.

  • Design and implement strategies for archiving infrequently accessed data, ensuring effective data lifecycle management.

  • Establish and enforce data retention, archival, and disposal policies in alignment with organizational and regulatory requirements.

  • Contribute to solution design discussions, providing guidance on end‑to‑end data flow, architecture, storage, and reporting frameworks.

  • Act as a representative of DRACOE in both technical and business discussions related to data extraction and active data management.

  • Develop in‑depth expertise in DRACOE’s Active Data Management processes, standards, and service offerings.

  • Analyse source system data structures and define extraction, transformation, and integration strategies to support downstream reporting and analytics.

  • Optimize storage utilization and costs through tiered storage strategies and intelligent data lifecycle management.

  • Enable the creation of compliant, searchable, and reportable datasets that retain their usability post‑archival from production systems.

  • Establish governance frameworks and guardrails to enable secure and compliant self‑service data access.

  • Drive automation of data pipelines and monitoring processes to enhance scalability, resilience, and platform performance.

What should you have

  • Bachelors’ degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or any Technology stream.

  • 3+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, data integration, or related technical roles.

  • 3+ years of experience working with enterprise data platforms, data flows, or large‑scale data sets. Experienced in software/data engineering practices (including versioning, release management, deployment of datasets, agile & related software tools).

  • Strong working knowledge of at least one large‑scale data processing technology (e.g., High-performance computing, distributed computing), databases, and underlying technology (cloud or on‑prem environments, containerization, distributed storage & databases).

  • Experience supporting data extraction, transformation, storage, or reporting initiatives.

  • Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance considerations in enterprise environments.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment and collaborate across multiple stakeholder groups.
