Job Description Specialist, Data Stewardship

Role Overview

The Specialist, Data Stewardship role plays a pivotal part in the creation, maintenance, accuracy, and compliant execution of master data supporting our company Manufacturing and Supply Chain operations, directly supporting business outcomes and ultimately impacting patients who rely on life-saving products. This is a global role supporting Manufacturing and Supply Chain master data processes. The Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely execution of master data creation, extension, update, and maintenance requests. The role works closely with Data Steward Leads, ISO Stewards, Supply Chain stakeholders, and other relevant partners to ensure master data is established and maintained in accordance with global SOPs, work instructions, data standards, and business requirements.

What will you do in this role

Master Data Creation and Maintenance Execute master data creation, extension, update, and maintenance activities supporting Manufacturing and Supply Chain processes. Perform first-time material code creation, changes, and extensions, including required pre-checks and validation activities. Evaluate the appropriate parameters and data sets required to execute compliant and error-free master data changes within SAP ECC and SAP S/4. Ensure required information, prerequisites, documentation, and approvals are available before executing master data changes. Execute activities in accordance with global SOPs, work instructions, data standards, and established controls. Maintain complete and accurate evidence and documentation for all master data changes performed.

Data Stewardship and Business Understanding Understand divisional requirements, business guidelines, and dependencies between master data elements and downstream processes. Work closely with Data Steward Leads, ISO Stewards, Supply Chain stakeholders, and other relevant teams to clarify requirements and ensure consistent execution. Identify incomplete, conflicting, or unclear requests and proactively engage or elevate to the appropriate stakeholder. Apply master data standards consistently across supported processes, locations, and business areas. Maintain a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, accountability, and timely execution.

Data Accuracy and Continuous Improvement Perform proactive data accuracy checks and analysis to identify incorrect, incomplete, or inconsistent master data. Support investigation and correction of identified master data issues. Identify opportunities to automate, simplify, standardize, and improve master data processes and ways of working. Contribute ideas and operational expertise to continuous improvement within the Master Data Management organization. Additional responsibilities may include Support Supply Chain projects and business initiatives requiring master data creation, changes, extensions, or validation. Support Material Master Data change-control activities, including approvals, execution, documentation, and follow-up. Monitor relevant data reports and activities to help ensure records remain appropriately synchronized. Support testing and introduction of new or enhanced technology capabilities within Master Data Management.

What should you have

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Information Technology, Data Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. 2-3 years of experience in master data management, data stewardship, SAP master data, Supply Chain, or related operational roles.

Primary skills (must-have)

• Strong practical knowledge of SAP master data processes, preferably SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4.
• Strong hands-on experience in master data creation, maintenance, extension, and change activities.
• Good understanding of Material Master Data and its role within Manufacturing and Supply Chain processes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to execute complex data activities accurately and consistently.
• Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple requests, priorities, and deadlines.
• Proactive and solution-oriented mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand master data dependencies and the downstream impact of data changes.
• Strong stakeholder collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in a global, matrixed environment.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Understanding of GxP principles and controlled working practices.

Secondary skills (nice to have)

• Experience within the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or another regulated industry.
• Experience supporting Manufacturing and Supply Chain master data processes.
• Experience with DSP, Syniti, or similar master data tools.
• Experience supporting Supply Chain projects, product introductions, or network changes.
• Familiarity with master data governance and stewardship operating models.
• Experience with data validation, reconciliation, or synchronization activities.
