Job description

Acron Aviation (Avionics – Surveillance)

Acron Aviation designs, engineers, and manufactures certified avionics systems that support safety-critical flight operations across commercial and military aviation. Within Avionics, the Surveillance product line develops and sustains systems that enable aircraft awareness, collision avoidance, and airspace interoperability. Our portfolio includes TCAS, Mode S transponders, ADS-B, and integrated surveillance solutions deployed across commercial, military, and rotorcraft platforms. This work is performed in highly regulated environments and demands deep expertise across systems, hardware, software, and RF throughout the full product lifecycle.

Job Title: Software V&V Engineer – Surveillance
Position Summary:

As a Software V&V Engineer, you will execute hands-on software verification and validation activities in compliance with DO-178C objectives for safety-critical avionics surveillance systems. Acron Aviation is seeking detail-oriented, technically rigorous V&V engineers who can execute and document software verification activities and contribute to airworthiness certification on our TCAS, Transponder, and Integrated Surveillance Platform programs. The applicant will work as a key individual contributor within the Software V&V team, collaborating with Systems Engineering, Software Development, and Program Management to ensure verification coverage, requirements traceability, and compliance with applicable DO-178C DAL B and C requirements. As an individual contributor, the Software V&V Engineer is responsible for hands-on execution and documentation of software verification activities within assigned programs, ensuring DO-178C compliance and collaborating with Software Development Leads and Project Leads on test integration, schedule, and certification readiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accountable for DO-178C software verification and validation activities for Surveillance development projects, including test planning, procedure development, execution, and results documentation; coordinates with US based Acron software engineers as required
  • Partner with Software Development Leads, Systems Engineering, and Project Leads to define verification strategies, manage test dependencies, and meet program verification milestones
  • Plan, develop, and execute Software Verification Cases and Procedures (SVCPs) in accordance with DO-178C DAL-appropriate objectives, ensuring requirements-based test coverage and traceability to software requirements
  • Track and communicate software verification status, open Problem Reports (PRs), and structural coverage metrics (e.g., decision, statement coverage) to project stakeholders
  • Author and peer-review Software Verification Results (SVRs), Problem Report dispositions, test reports, and associated DO-178C lifecycle data artifacts
  • Perform structural coverage analysis and requirements-based test traceability to satisfy DAL-appropriate DO-178C objectives; identify, document, and disposition coverage gaps through additional tests or analyses
  • Support DER/ACO coordination activities and contribute to Software Accomplishment Summary (SAS), Software Configuration Index (SCI), and other certification artifacts required for FAA/EASA approval
Required Qualifications
  • BS Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent fields required
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience executing DO-178B/C software verification activities in a safety-critical avionics or aerospace environment
  • Demonstrated experience developing, reviewing, and executing requirements-based software test cases and procedures
  • Practical knowledge of DO-178C software verification objectives, software plans, and lifecycle data (e.g., SVCP, SVR, SAS, SCI)
  • Direct experience with DO-178B/C software verification activities is REQUIRED (not solely development experience)
  • Experience developing with C programming language is required
  • Knowledge of engineering design standards for commercial aviation industry
  • Good written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills required
  • Action oriented, results driven, high energy, self-starter, innovative with new approaches to design work, influential with peers and demonstrate critical thinking skills to drive to root cause
Preferred Additional Skills
